"Too bad you didn't wait til after the holidays..."

Well.....the choice was made for me. I was given a date and frankly I am glad that it was scheduled the way it was. Call me a fanatic, but I believe that things happen for a reason!

I made enough excuses in the past why I should wait for "tomorrow" and the only thing it got me was an extra five pounds that I had to deal with.

The idea of celebrating the Holiday Season without all the food, for some, is equal to not enjoying yourself. Personally I choose to look at it like I will be able to focus on the other ways joy is brought to those we love. Hugs,...singing, making gifts from the heart,

This year I am going to focus on all things NOT food related!

Hmmm...the choice wasn't made for you. YOU still made that choice to be banded on the day they suggested - and you chose it in spite of the holidays being right around the corner. Good for you! I wish I'd had that resolve when I first started down this path - but then I discovered I have to do a six month unweightloss program anyway, so it didn't matter whether I got in "in time to be able to eat real food on Thanksgiving".

And you are sooooo right - there is sooo much more to the holidays than the food. So here's to wishing you a very Merry Happy Holiday Season!

You have a great way of looking at it, not focusing this holidays based on what foods we can eat. I guess we have done this or we would be in the position.

When I went to my Consult today I was very concerned I was going to get a Preholiday Date. I didn't want the Holidays to be Focused on Mommy being sick for my 6 year old. As it turned out, That Surgeon was not for me, and my Information Seminar is now January 14th.

Like you said, I believe things happen for a reason. This doesn't mean I am going to eat everything in site for the next two months, or even through the holidays. I still plan to eat healthy, and try to increase my exercise.

I'm going to take a tip for you if you don't mind. I'm going to make these holidays about more than just food. Celebrate the Reason for the Season.

Enjoy your Journey, I pray it goes well for you!

This is my first holiday season since being banded and my thoughts are more like "thank God I am not going to be eating my way through the holidays this year, I'm not going to be powerless over the goodies and will not have to beat my self up in January!" I always felt so powerless before - I don't anymore. Happy Holidays!
