Tired of liquids!!

So, my husband found this site for me last night and I've been up most of the morning reading the blogs. How nice to truly see other people struggling with the same things! My pre-op diet was supposed to be all liquids one week prior to surgery - I went in for my nutrionist/pre op appointments and they informed me it's been changed to 2 weeks. I'm on day 6 out of 14 and it's been harder than I ever imagined. I like to believe that I was totally prepared for just 7 days but when it changed to 14 it was overwhelming.

The first couple of days weren't too bad - my husband bought me a magic bullet which made making smoothies/protein shakes a breeze - tried a couple of different powders and jay robb's flavors seem to taste the best to me. However as time goes by, the hunger pains have become less but the physcological (sp?) part has become horrible. Smells of food send me to tears and I'm craving things that I don't normally even care for!!

I keep telling myself that this is NOT what it's going to be like after the band - I will be able to eat normal food again - but it's so hard right now!! On the upside I've lost 10 lbs in 5 days - that should be encouraging right??

The thought of soup, smoothies, or shakes for the next 8 days is enough to make me sick - any one have any suggestions for how to mix it up some??

My doc never asked me to have liquids for a whole week before the surgery. I just had to go on a diet, lose 7 lbs and then liquids for three days prior to the surgery. However, some people that I know who had to have liquids added sugar free pudding to their diet and jello and sugarfree popcicles. Hope that helps and good luck. I know what you are going through. Those three days for murder for me. I can't imagine two weeks.

Thanks! I have found that sugar free popsicles/cremesicles aren't that bad at all - pretty darn good! I've never cared for pudding or jello but they do provide change!

It's definitely hard, my surgery was postponed twice and I had to do the preop diet for a month - First time I had one of the shakes I puked it right back up, not fun lol. As for changing it up, add some low kilojoule toppings to your shakes. Gives them flavour. Good luck =)
