5th Fill - March 26, 2008

After this fill (5th one) I have finally found some restriction. I'm hoping that it is the sweet spot that I've read so much about. I've also joined a gym and can actually feel myself losing inches. FINALLY!!

Two months

Well...I'm two months post op and one week post first fill. So far I feel like I did pre-surgery. I'm holding steady at the 20 lb loss and am seriously looking forward to seeing the days when it starts to fall off. I went for my first fill last week with Dr. Erbella and it was easier than I thought it was going to be, however, I had a hemotoma (pocket of fluid) above my port site that he had to suck out with a needle. It's left a bad bruise on my tummy. He wants me to have an ultrasound before my next fill next week to make sure it didn't fill back up. The fill itself was painless. I don't have any restriction at all....soon though, hopefully sooner than later.

Feeling old pangs

I'm not quite two wks post op today. I'm beginning to feel like my old self again..you know the one, food consumed. It seems to be all I think about again and I'm praying for help. I can't eat like I used to, which is the whole reason I had this surgery..is to help me from myself. I pureed some chinese food tonight for dinner and ate too much of it. I suffered all evening with uncomfortableness. I'm hoping to remember that feeling tomorrow when I want to do it again. I haven't stepped on the scale in days for fear of seeing some of the weight I lost back again. This week I am going to begin walking slowly and working my way up. My knees aren't feeling too bad so hopefully it'll be OK.

Finally..I'm banded

Going back to Tues-Nov 13th. My DH and I arrived at Manatee Mem. Hospital at 6:30am. We were sent to the 2nd floor where they were waiting to prep me. After being poked and prodded with all kinds of needles and IV's....they finally took me to the OR about 8:30. Once in the OR...they had me get off the gurney and step up onto the lounge type bed where she said that they would be putting my feet up into holsters. All the nurses were so friendly and made me feel completely at ease. The anethestist put the oxygen on my face and within seconds I was out. The next thing I remember is waking up to someone telling me it was all over. After a little while in recovery, they wheeled me up to my room where my DH was waiting for me. I slept most of the time except for when they were taking my vitals. I did get nauseus once, it was gas bubbles coming out..once they did I felt much better. I went home the next day. Today is Friday and I'm feeling stronger everyday. I'm trying to get in a whole protein drink but I'm just not hungry at all.

Twas the night before....

Twas the night before my surgery.....and the last day of this liquid diet. It wasn't as bad as I had envisioned but yesterday had to be the worst of it. I was super emotional and very hungry. But it passed and I survived it. Today I went for my Pre-op appt and had an EKG, a chest X-ray and an ultrasound on my legs. I passed them all with flying colors. I picked up my prescriptions, which included, liquid pain medication, Ranitidine for acid reflux and some suppositories for nausea. We have to be to the hospital by 6:30am. I am sooo ready for this!

Still hanging in there

Today is day 6 of this liquid pre-op diet. To my amazement, I have not cheated once. I am down 11 lbs since beginning the diet. I know it's only water weight, but hey....I'll take it! :whoo: I do feel hungry at times, but I just keep my fluid intake up and it passes. The fact that I see the scale moving down keeps me motivated, not to mention wanting the surgery to be as safe for me as possible. Four more days!!!

Day 2 of Pre-OP diet

I survived day one!! :clap2: It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was a little hungry but nothing major. I woke up in the middle of the night and wasn't hungry, although my head wondered why I wasn't. This morning I drank my protein drink and had some yogurt and coffee and I feel OK. Gosh, if the next 8 days goes like this I'll be ecstatic. I start my new job tomorrow so I think that will help alot too. I will have something new and exciting to focus on other than food. :ranger:

The night before the pre-op diet...

Well...tomorrow I start the 10 day liquid diet so today I went out shopping. Man liquid dieting is expensive!! I bought.....(16) Carb Control protein drinks, Propel water, Diet 7-up, Cottage Cheese, Sugar Free Jello, Sugar Free Fudgcicles, Broth, 7 Cans of Healthy choice soup, Yoplait Light Yogurt. I also bought my Gas-X and chewable multi-vitamins for post op. Sheesh, I spent more on that stuff than I would normally spend on food. I'm nervous but at the same time I'm excited to be embarking on this journey that I've waited to start on for over two yrs. Bring it on!

The first step

I FINALLY have a date set for the Lap-Band Surgery. It's for 11/13/07. I met with Dr. Bunch on 10/25/07 and his entire staff are awesome. I was working with Dr. Bagan's office for over two years and one meeting with Dr. Bunch and my surgery is scheduled. God is so great. Beginning this Sat I have to start my 10 day liquid diet. I am excited and nervous. I have a really great support group at home, my DH and two DS's. They keep telling me that I can do it and my mother says to call her if I feel like I need to eat the arm off of the couch. :hungry: I will post how it goes and just how easy/hard it is. :faint:
