Thank Goodness

I had my mammogram and ultrasound today and luckily I am fine - still cancer free! I am so excited and thankful that the testing is done and I got my test results immediately following the tests. I see my oncologist on Friday, but with these 2 tests behind me, I know everything will be fine.   I had my husband take my green shirt Sept pictures on Sunday, but we just got a new computer and he hasn't up-loaded Photoshop yet, so I am hoping to upload my new pic by the end of the week.   Last week I lost a total of 5lbs. This week I lost 8/10s of a lb. It was my first week without a 3 or 4 lb loss, so I was a little disappointed. But a loss is a loss, so I won't be a baby - I have taken my big-girl pill and I hope this week will be better.   My first fill is scheduled for next week. This is now the 4th time I have been scheduled for my 1st fill - perhaps this time I need it. I only log my Sunday weight, so depending on what happens this Sunday will determine whether or not I am ready for the fill. I am still not hungry between meals, I am not eating anything more than I should and I feel really good. I would love to say I've lost 40 or 50 lbs since my surgery, but I truly believe slow and steady will win this battle.   I started this journey at 268lbs back in January at the time of my cancer/mastectomy. When I had my LB surgery on 6/21/10 I was down to 251lbs. This past Sunday I weighed in at 223lbs. There are many people who have lost a lot more than me at this point of their journey and those who have lost less. There is no comparing to be made. Everyone loses at a different rate. I have never and I mean never been able to lose more than 25lbs on any diet, except one time on Atkins when I lost 40, but had gained every single lb back and more. I truly believe this time I am winning the battle.   I love the gym, I love the cardio and weight training, I love my new way of eating and I especially love the way I look and feel. I know this new lifestyle is my lifestyel, for the rest of my life - being healthier and getting smaller will extend my life and the exercise will help me feel better, move better and I love it.   Good luck to everyone and please check back to see my new photos in a couple of days.

"Fill?" what do you feel?

Hi, Everyone:   I just got a very interesting question from a fellow bandster regarding my first fill last Thurs. So, I will put the question out to everyone.   I was asked what I was eating since my fill, or more specifically if since my fill was I eating differently.   My answer to this question is yes, I appear to be eating a little less than I was before - probably about as much as when I first got banded. But, I am not feeling "restricted" like other bandsters talk about. I eat very slowly and when I am no longer hungry, I stop eating. I have been consistently losing weight. I wish it was 5lbs a week, but it is always around a lb or more.   I postponed 4 times and then I decided to get my fill because I was a little hungry between meals. I have not been sick, I have not gotten anything stuck, no belching, no sliming, no stuffed feeling. I got 1cc added to my band, and that was it.   I am scheduled for another fill later this month, but I don't know if I need it. But again, I don't have a clue what a "restriction" feels like.   What are you feeling?

Why not sooner?

Have I mentioned to anyone that I am one happy puppy? I don't think I have been this motivated and excited in years! I am seeing some changes, and it has only been 1 month tomorrow. My starting weight right before the lap-band was 254lbs. As of today, I am 235.8. I was as heavy as 268, but lost some weight before the sugery, as everyone does.   It is funny to say, but I never felt that "fat" until I saw pictures of myself. Then, I wanted to run and hide. Keep in mind, I am only 5'3" tall. Most of my height is in my legs, and most of my weight is in my upper body so I was up there.   Today was my second day lifting weights at the gym. I did a half hour of cardio and then the 5 machines that are part of my rotation. It feels so good to be participating in life again. I am giving myself permission to sit on the couch and watch TV as long as I keep up my exercise program. On days I am not in the gym, I do lift 3lb dumb bells and use a tension band. So far eating has not been a problem for me. I may postpone my fill from Thursday to next week sometime. I don't think I need it yet. I'll decide by Tues.   I posted some photos to my "album" showing the start of my journey through today and I will continue to add pics monthly. Now instead of running from the camera, I am looking forward to a monthly record of my progress.   I am so proud of myself and anyone who is on this journey too. It is a lot of work, sweaty - hard work, but it will be worth it in the end. This is a new lifestyle for us and I for one am so up to the challenge.   I can't wait to see where I am a year from now. Once I have lost all of the weight I have to lose, I am going to have my breast reconstruction (mastectomy Jan 5th of this year), and tummy tuck. GO ME - GO US! Have a great Sunday and keep on trucking. We are all in this together.:rolleyes2:

I chose Lap-Band - Yea for me!!!!!

I am so happy I chose the Lap-Band and not gastric bypass.   I originally thought the gastric bypass was the answer. I went to the meetings but was very nervous when I heard not reversable, hair loss, dumping syndrome, 6 weeks no work, only 1 year to lose your weight and $25,000. My insurance company was going to approve it, right? Wrong. The day before I met with the surgeon, I got a call from his office to say my insurance company had an exception to my coverage and wouldn't pay anthing for weight loss surgery.   So I went home and cried. I thought I would have to live my life miserably fat and on every medication you would imagine a fat old broad would have to be on. The sleepless nights caused by my sleep apnea, the diabetes, the high blood pressure, the high tri-glicerides and high cholesterol, knee and back pain, and on and on. I was heartbroken. But I decided to start saving and hoped that one day...   I started hearing about Lap-Band and actually knew someone who had it. She was so happy and excited and started looking and feeling really good. So, I went to some meetings to see what I could learn about it. I met my surgeon and decided this was the surgery for me.   I started saving every penny I could. Then, in May of last year my mom passed away leaving me a small inheritance. So I was scheduled for December 21st for lap-band.   Well, as you all know I had been diagnosed with breast cancer in October and had my mastectomy in January. Which of course meant I had to postpone my lap-band. I rescheduled it for my birthday. The greatest gift I could possibly give myself on my re-birthday.   Yes, I was sore the day of surgery, but got around pretty well on day 2. By Wed I was up and moving without very much discomfort and the rest is history. I never looked back.   Well a young woman who worked for me scheduled her gastric bypass for the week following my surgery. She spent 4 days in the hospital, in pain all of the time. Then after getting home, she ended up back in the hospital because she was dehydrated. When I spoke with her today, she was still having trouble drinking water!   Lap-Band - life saving tool. A couple of days of discomfort and a lifetime of good health, normal weight, and happiness.   I am so glad I made this choice.

It's Official

Today is 1 month and 4 days since my Lap-Band surgery and I have officially lost exactly 20 lbs. I am so happy and excited.   I was at K-Mart yesterday and they had a huge sale on short sleeve, light-weight summer tops. Living in Florida, I wear these all year round. So I purchased some 2X tops - I hate passing up a good sale lol. I got home and tried them on but they were a little snug. Oh well, I'll just have to wait another 1-2 weeks before they fit comfortably, but that's not bad when you consider I have been wearing 3X and 4X up to this point.   I am looking forward to my first fill on Thurs. I think I am now ready for it. I find I am able to eat a little bit more than I have been in the last couple of weeks, but still keeping within the guidelines the doctor and nutritionist have set up for me. I get my protein down first and I am drinking as much as I possibly can during the day. Sometimes I can actually hear myself slosh as I am walking, but I guess I am not alone in that.   I am so curious as to what the restriction is going to feel like. I think I am a littel nervous about possibly having something get stuck or throwing up - 2 things I would like to avoid for the rest of my life if I have anything to say about it. But I will be brave and have the fill. I was nervous about the needle, but after reading other people blog about it, I am not nervous about it anymore.   I am happy to be on this journey with so many wonderful people. As the process continues, my enthusiam goes up. My excitement keeps growning leaps and bounds and I am so happy. I wish this great feeling on all of my bandster friends.

Day 3

I am feeling so great! Yesterday I had a lot of gas and it really hurt to get up from a seated position. Much of the gas has passed, thank goodness, and the pain is less intense when getting up and down. I did not take any pain medication yesterday or today, so far, except for a tablespoon to help me sleep last night.   I really wasn't hungry yesterday at all, but this morning I had a 1/2 protein shake and a few sips of decaf coffee. For lunch I had a 1/2 cup of cream of chicken soup. It was great not having only clear liquids. I have been trying to get my water down - slow and steady.   I can't wait until the mushy or pureed food stage starts. I already have a wish list!   I have been hearing from so many wonderful people with good wishes and great ideas. Thank you all. Please keep them coming. I love opening my blg and finding responses to it.   Today is 3 days - I can't wait for 3 weeks, 3 months, etc. I can't wait to say I have lost 20 lbs. What an exciting day that will be and a great start to a long haul.   Have a great day everyone.

My loss is another persons gain.

I was getting ready for work this morning and picked out a pair of capri pants and a cute top with rhinestones on it. Well, the capri's were so big, I would not have been able to walk around without losing them. So, I go back into my closet to find a belt. Well, I haven't owned a belt in over 20 years, so I kept searching for something to hold up my pants.   I tried on my husband's belt, but it was much too large. I didn't have any safety pins or rope, so I kept looking until I found a belt that I thought might work. It was the belt of my flannel robe! After wrapping it around my waist and knotting it a couple of times, I decided to ditch the capris. My husband was laughing so hard I thought he would pee himself.   So I put on a pair of regular jeans, which are also large enough for me to take off without opening them, but I put them on anyway and put on the top. The top was huge! It was falling off my shoulders, so I took it off and grabbed another top. The same thing happened, not twice, but 6 times!   The receptionist at my job is a large woman, so I brought the bag of clothes to her and she was thrilled to have some new tops and a pair of capris.   This weekend I will be going through and cleaning out my closet. I bought some new tops about a week ago, which are still a little too snug around my stomach, but I am hoping in about a week they will fit. I do need to purchase some new pants, though. I think I would be arrested if I walked around allowing my pants to hit the floor. lol.:tt2:   What a great feeling! People keep saying I look great and that they can see a big difference, but until I tried to do something simple like get dressed for work today, I didn't really notice a big difference. Love my lap-band.   Have a great night everyone.

Breast Cancer Month

Hello fellow bandsters!   My husband and I were away this weekend in Orlando, which is about 3 1/2 hours from our home. There was a horror convention going on for my husband and shopping with my girlfrieds for me.   I cannot wear any of my old clothes, so I have given almost everything away to a co-worker for her and her daughter to share. So when the opportunity came up to hit some of the outlet stores with 2 friends who live up in Orlando, I jumped at the chance.   I never knew the Gap carried larger sizes. Most stores will go up to a 14, the Gap goes up to a 20. I am now wearing an 18-20, so I was able to get 3 pairs of jeans and 3 sweaters for my vacation in November. We walked and walked and walked and tried on shoes, pants, tops, and had a blast. A year ago I wouldn't have been able to do the amount of walking I did this weekend. The weight loss has certainly made such a huge difference in my life.   On Sunday I had a 1 hour massage at the spa while my husband was at the horror convention. I was resting/reading by the pool when he called that I should meet him for lunch. As we were walking around looking at all of the costumed people, I noticed a room with all tattoo artists doing tattoos.   I have thought about getting a tattoo for a while, but never really had the opportunity - until seeing what was going on.   I went into the huge room and walked around viewing some of the artist's work and found a young woman who I thought would be really good. So I actually got a tattoo.   I am a breast cancer survivor. Anyone who has read my blog knows I had a mastectomy on January 5th of this year. October is breast cancer month and the month I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago. So, I have uploaded a picture of the tattoo that is now on the side of my left calf.   Cancer certainly changed how I look at a lot of things. Losing weight and getting healthier has also made things look brighter and clearer for me. I have a better chance of keeping cancer at bay by losing weight and exercising, which is exactly what I am doing.   For those of us who have had breast cancer, for anyone who knows someone who has or had breast cancer and for those of us who struggle everyday with weight, I am here to say there is hope. I am a survivor. I will succeed and I will continue fighting until I have reached my goal.   I hope you all have a great evening.

New Green Shirt Photo

Hi, fellow bandsters:   It is the 2nd of October and you know what that means? It means it is time for the new green shirt photo. As you can see, I also changed my Avatar.   My husband takes the pictures and then he sizes them for me. I kept asking him to go from one picture to the past picture because I couldn't believe how many changes there were. I am really doing it!   I would be so happy if I could say every week I lost 5 lbs. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. But I am consistently losing - about a pound or so a week. I really thought it would be more, but it took many years to put the weight on, so it is going to take a while to take it off.   Monday will start week 15 and I've lost around 35 lbs since my surgery. I've had 1 fill so far, last Thurs, but I really don't think I need another one. I am able to eat anything without getting sick, and I stop when I start to feel the hunger go away. I am working out religiously and I really do feel amazing. When I saw the pictures tonight, I really started feeling better about myself and how I look.   Please check our my new green shirt photo and let me know what you think of my new pictures.   Have a great weekend everyone.

Technology, not always a good thing

Today is the first time I have been able to get back on line. We've had no internet for a week. The cable guy actually came out on Sunday and replaced all kinds of wires and things to get us up and running. Finally, we are able to check emails again. I had well over 200, mostly garbage   Because the system was down, I haven't been able to post my new green shirt picture. But I did have it taken and now the hubs has to upload it for me. I am hoping he can get to it soon.   My 2nd fill was scheduled for this week, but I postponed it until after Thanksgiving. I still don't need it yet. As of today, I am down to 207lbs, which is 62 lbs since I started my journey (47lbs since my surgery).   I have conquered my nemesis, the dreaded elliptical machine. I am up to 35 minutes and I really love it. I can't wait until I can get up to 1 hour on it. When I first started using it, I was only able to go about 2-3 minutes. Then I went to 5 and every time I tried it, I stayed on a minute longer than the last time. I don't get winded on it - the problem is my feet. They start to go numb. I spoke to one of the trainers who said it was not uncommon. I am hoping I will be able to get past it.   I will try to get my pics uploaded and check back in within the next day or two.   Have a great night everyone.

Say Cheese

This Sunday is not only my brother-in-law's birthday, have a happy Dennis, but I am going to take another sent of pictures in the green top I started my journey in. For those of you interested, you will find my photos in my album. I am anxious to see a side-by-side.   I think the only way we can actually view ourselves as we really look is through the eye of a camera. I know they say the camera puts 10lbs on you, but I think that's only a TV camera.   I've always run from the camera when friends want to "remember the time". Or try to find a way to hide part of my body, but I am looking forward to the day that I am the one saying, "Does anyone have a camera to capture this memory?"   I was telling my husband on the way back from the gym tonight that I really believe my stomach is getting a bit flatter. Then I realized it is only 5 or 6 weeks since my surgery and realized I have a heck of a long time to go to reach my goal weight. I know I will eventually get there, but I am only taking 10lbs at a time.   As my friend and fellow bandster I'm a Luckydog said, she has lost 110lbs in a year and it went a lot faster than she thought it would. She is now on maintenance and doing great. How wonderful is that?   Have a wonderful weekend everyone and check out my pics next week.

Protein Question

I do not do protein shakes. I absolutely hate them. I really tried at the begining when I first got banded because I was not allowed to have anything mushy. I know when I get my first fill, perhaps 9/1, my doctor will tell me to go back to liquids and that would include the protein shakes before hitting the pureed stage, but I still hate them.   I am 8 weeks post-surgery and get all of my protein from regular food. How about you? What is everyone else doing? Please let me know - protein shakes or not? Strictly protein from your meats, cheese and eggs?   I am curious to see what comments I get. And I hope I get a lot.

I can't believe it!

Hi, all.   I have to say I am doing really well since my surgery. I have had no problems getting my proteins or food down and keeping it down, although I have not had the 70-80 grams or protein they want me to have, but the doctor's office said that was normal in the beginning. I have been drinking my water. The pain is barely noticable anymore, even when turning over in bed.   Today was my first day back to the gym since 6/18, with my surgery on 6/21. I thought I might last on the treadmill about a 1/4 mile, but did 1.35 miles and then was on the Sci-fit for 15 minutes. I felt really great. But the best part is that when I got on the scale I learned I had lost 7lbs 4 oz since my last visit. How amazing is that? I am totally in shock, really. My husband said I looked as if I had lost a lot, but I can't really see it. But now I believe him.   I am returning to work tomorrow, wish I could win the lottery and never go back, but living in the real world...I sit at a desk most of the day so there will be no strain other than the fact that I am a Customer Service Manager and get stressed enough!   Friday I start on the pureed and mushy - OMG I will get to hold a real fork and chew something other than a teeny-tiny piece of chicken from the cream of chicken soup.   Enjoy your Sunday to all and I'll check back again soon. Thanks for all of your support and encouragement. This is the greatest place!!!!

Almost there...

I can't believe it but I am almost out of the 230s.   Tonight when I finished my workout at the gym, I weighed myself and was astonished that the scale said 230.8. So, I got off and after it registered back to zero, I stepped on again. OMG, I will be in the 220s sometime very soon. Possibly when I weigh in on Friday night or Sunday, which is the day I keep recorded.   Monday was the start of my 7th week since my surgery and I am down 22.6lbs - an average of 3.2lbs a week. And still, no fill! This lap-band is an amazing tool, but I am working by butt off to continue with this forward momentum. Don't let anyone tell you this is easy, because it isn't. But I see it is making me so much happier and feeling so much better, that it is worth it all.   I remember, not too long ago, that I would get into bed around 10 or 11PM and by 1:30am I was sitting in my living room on my recliner, wide awake, just looking around. I didn't turn on the TV so I wouldn't wake up the hubs. Sure I would fall back to sleep, but the sleep apnea would keep waking me up. Now I go to bed and outside of a quick trip to the bathroom, I get back into bed and wake up when the alarm goes off. How remarkable is that? My husband says I still snore, but softer, and we are both hoping that will end at some point (lol).   So, I will continue on my trek. With all other diets, and I have been on almost ever stinking one, I would lose 25lbs and that would be it. I can't wait to hit the 26lb loss and then the 30lb loss. I know it is going to happen this time. I am so excited to see where this journey leads me and I hope you all come along for the ride and share your journey with me.

1-more day

I made it almost an entire week on full liquids. Only 1 more day to go. I never thought it would be as easy as it has been. I am not "enjoying" it, but I have stuck to the rules to the letter. I can't imagine going through all of this and cheating. Who would I be cheating - no one but myself.   Sunday is the clear liquid day. And then, and then, and then, my re-birth day. When I tell people that my surgery is actually on my birthday they think I am nuts. But I couldn't think of a better gift to give myself.   To all of you who have had the surgery and found your "sweet spot", congrats. To those of us getting ready for the surgery I wish us all the best of luck - we have a long, hard road coming. But if I have the will power and strength to carry on and get it right, so do you all.   To all my bandsters out there, I wish you a life of happiness and good health.

1st Day of Liquids

My first day of liquids, although not quite over yet, was OK. I started my day with 27grams of protein shake with a cup of decaf coffee. Mid-morning when my stomach started to growl so loudly that other people at work were able to hear it, I had a Jello cup. At lunch I had a 40gram Insopur drink (grape forest), which was very tasty and a cup of chicken broth. I finished my "meal" with another Jello. I drank about 80 oz of water throughout the day and for dinner tonight I had some cream of brocolli soup, a decaf coffee and glass of water with lemon. I will soon be having a sugar free ice pop. Yum. Thank goodness this is only a week long. I am not looking forward to having to do this after my surgery for 2 weeks, but having the lap-band is such a gift that I will do whatever is necessary to make this work. It has to work - it is truly my last hope to get healthy, look and feel better and live longer. 7 Days to go:w00t::tt1:

OK, I created a ticker, like all of you have on your page. How do I attach it to my blogs? Do I have to go back to the TickerFactory each day and copy and paste?   I know one of my bandster friends will teach this old dog a new trick. Thanks.

Set my alarm

I have set the alarm clock for 4:00 AM and have given my husband my picture ID to put in his wallet. I am ready to boogie.   I did my full 7 days of full-liquids and today's clear liquids. Only 2 more weeks until I can use a fork again. I can't wait. It truly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and the end is in sight.   I hade the hubs take pictures of me today - and thank goodness they will be the last of their kind. I can't wait to change my avatar!   For anyone who is having surgery tomorrow, the 21st, my birthday, my re-birthday, the first day of summer and the first day of the rest of my life, I wish you well. It has been a very long road and it is finally here.   I'll check back when I can with updates after the surgery. Wish me luck and please keep good thoughts.:smile2:

Scared?

I just received a message from a soon-to-be bandster and she mentioned she was scared of the surgery. I thought it was important to mention that even if you are scared of the surgery, it is scarier to go through life without it.   I never mentioned, but I was not heavy all of my life. 22 years ago, just before marrying the man of my dreams, I had an accident at work. I was a Code Enforcement Officer and was removing an illegal sign that was nailed to a tree. The sign was very high up and I lifted my arms, pulling the sign side-to-side until the nails came out and the sign came down. The sign was extremely heavy and when it came down, it bent me in half. I rolled the sign over, end over end, and put it into my car. When I started to get out of the car, I could barely move. It turns out I hurniated 2 disks - one in my neck and one in my lower back. I also caused some nerve damage in my neck. The pain was and still is remarkable.   I went to several doctors who said I should stop going to the gym and not lift anything heavier than a loaf of bread. That surgery would be my best option, which I opted not to have.   Believe it or not, but I wore a size 3/4 to my wedding, that needed to be taken in.   Sitting around, doing absolutely nothing caused me to start gaining weight. Then I quit smoking, which added about 45 lbs to my already growing mass. I became very depressed and ate myself into oblivion. I was not allowed to exercise, which did me a huge disservice. So even back then I knew exercise would help me, but I listened to the doctors and kept growing and growing to a size 26. And of course all of the co-morbidities jumped on board for the ride and it became difficult to walk.   Well, I am on my way to a healthier, better life. I still have neck and back pain, but I push through them. I work out like an animal at the gym becuase I see how much better I am doing with this small weight loss and I can't wait until I lose all I need to lose. 35 lbs since my surgery, 14 prior to surgery and about 70 lbs to go. So trust me when I tell you I will get there. I am down to a size 18 pant and an XL top. People are really taking notice of my loss and telling me how good I look. I can't tell you how good that makes me feel.   I am already looking forward to my October picture in my green shirt!   Have a great night everyone.

Wow

I hope you are all having a great Sunday.   I am so excited. I weighed in today at the gym and I was 210.2. I lost over 2 lbs this week giving me a total weight loss of 41.2 lbs since my Lap Band surgery on June 21!   Prior to my LP, I was on Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutra System, etc, etc, etc. Each time I reached a 25lb loss, I would stall. That was it, all she wrote, the game was over. Then I would gain it all back, plus more.   I am so close to the onederland that I can almost touch it. So, what do you call when you are 210-219? My trainer says you are in the countdown. OK, so I am in the countdown.   I have my 2nd fill scheduled for tomorrow morning. I'll see if the doctor feels that I need it. I got 1cc in my 14cc band at about 9 weeks, so we will see what they do tomorrow, which starts my 18 week.   Well, enjoy the rest of your Sunday. :smile2:

Everyone tells me slow and steady and that is what I am trying for.   I can't wait until I am in the 220s.   Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Losing and Happy

I had a great work-out at the gym today. I love my Sunday workouts. It is the day I actually log in my weight loss. It just completes the weekend for me.   I did a half hour on the treadmill. I was walking 3.1 mph at a 6.5 incline for a mile and then upped the incline to 7 for 1/2 mile more. Boy did I sweat, but it felt great. I wasn't even as winded as I usually get. I guess my body is getting used to the torture.   Then I proceeded to my weight training workout. I enjoy the weights, all except the shoulder press. I have a problem with bursitis in both of my shoulders, especially the right one. So, my trainer told me to stop using that machine and use a 5lb weight in each hand. He said to let the weight hang and raise up my shoulders to my ears and same amount of time I would use the shoulder machine. I really disliked that one. So, I modified the exercise by stretching my arm over my head and back down to my side 13 times, 3 reps. That was better. The other hurt my neck????   Anyway, when I was all done I weighed myself. I am pleased to annouce that I am down to 228.0! I am so excited. I lost just over 2 lbs since last Sunday. Good-bye 230! I am never going to look back. Now I am looking ahead to 219.   I am scheduled for my first fill on Thurs, but I still don't think I need it. I will keep the appointment and see what the doctor's assistant tells me.   Well, I'm off to finish an ankle bracelet I am making for myself. Most of the jewelry I make are gifts for other people, but I think with all of my hard work, I deserve a gift.   Have a great day everyone.

Great Support

Thank you all for your responses to my blogs. I truly get inspired by all of you.   I made a promise to myself 3 years ago when I decided to look into weight loss surgery that if I was fortunate to have it, I would do ANYTHING I had to do to keep on track. I know too many people who have had gastric bypass or lapband surgery and didn't keep up their end of the bargain by keeping on track and doing what they needed to do, so they gained all their weight back. They thought I'll have the surgery and the rest will take care of itself. Well, that isn't the case. You have to take care of the rest.   Tomorrow I have a 9:00am appointment with a new dietician. My last one was a very nice young lady, but she didn't "get me" and was not giving me the information I needed. She would ask if I liked something like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and I said no. So when she wrote out a suggested diet plan, she put both cottage cheese and Greek yogurt on it. That got me a little bit upset, so I told my doctor I wanted to switch and they gave me an appointment with a new person.   I am curiousn to know if I am doing the right thing eating the way I do. Yes, I am consistently losing weight and the scale is going in the right direction, but I want to make sure my intake is right. Could I lose more faster? I don't know, but I feel great, so I hope I am doing what I am suppose to do. As you all know, I don't want to do protein shakes - but I will if I have to.   I can't believe I am in my 9th week since surgery. The time has gone by so quickly. My first fill is scheduled for 9/1, so we will see how it goes.   Well, I hope you all have a great evening.

I can't wait

I was originally scheduled for my lapband this past December 21, 2010, but then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had to undergo a mastectomy on January 5th. I am so fortunate the cancer was found so early and that I don't need chemo or radiation.   My lapband has been rescheduled for my birthday, June 21st, which I am calling my re-birthday. :tongue_smilie:   I am a little nervous but so excited. Anyone have any suggestions?

Great Recipe

I had the most wonderful dinner tonight, so I thought I would pass along the recipe. This comes directly from my nutritionist. If you like crab, shrimp or scallops, this one is for you.   This recipe makes 2 servings - I can't wait until tomorrow night to have the remaining half.   1/2lb crab - I substituted shrimp 1/2lb scallops 2T Smart Balance spread 1/2c 1% milk 3T Parmesian Cheese 1/2c Park skim mozzarella cheese, shredded   Saute seafood in the Smart Balance over medium high heat until mostly cooked. Add milk and salt/pepper to taste. (I added some garlic powder and parsley flakes.) Lower heat to medium. Add most of the mozzarella and stil until thickens. Pour mixture into a casserole dish and add teh rest of the mozzarella. Broil until brown and bubbling.   This would be great over pasta, but of course we can't have pasta. This portion was more than enough for a meal and so tasty.   Enjoy!:rolleyes2:
