Help for hair loss!

I was banded in February, 2008 and my surgeon had told me a "side effect" is hair loss. I am losing hair everyday! And it is not like it is just a little bit, it is many strands at a time. If anyone has this happening, or has had it happen, what are your siggestions? I have been taking my vitamins and I started taking Biotin. HELP!!!!

Hey, keep taking the biotin. My hair comes out, but with the biotin, new is growing so my hair is still really thick and heathy. Make sure you are drinking enough water too!

Yep this is a problem for some folks that lose weight (rapidly). Dr says that your body is shutting down a non essential process because it thinks you are going into starvation mode. I experienced it a few years ago when on diet pills and again now with the band. Some folks lose quite a bit, think bald Patches. Im giving folic acid pills a shot this time but I don't really see a difference from last time.

The other day my husband asked if I had given the dog a bath because there was so much hair in the drain.

Good news IT WILL GROW BACK!!

Good luck.

You need to increase your protein intake. This has happened to me and when I increased the protein it stopped falling out in bunches. I heard Biotin really works and I am thinking of taking that too so my hair can get stronger.

Ditto on the protein! A lack of Protein in the diet can cause hair loss, slow healing and growth, reduce muscle mass, lower immunity, weaken the heart and respiratory system, and may even cause death.

Make sure you are getting in 60 - 80 grams of protein daily--I have a shake daily in order to be sure I'm getting enough.

Actually, even if you are getting enough protein the body is in shock. Believe it or not, you can wash your hair more frequently, it helps!

my dermatologist recommended rogain for women and washing with dandruff shampoo and that is helping. i will try the biotin also. were do you get it?

I bought my Biotin at Walmart. I think GNC Nutrition Centers have it also. I started taking it about 2 weeks ago and I am thinking I am going to double up on it.
