Newbie

Hi All,

I have been lurking in the shadows for some time now and thought I should introduce myself. I also wanted to thank all of those that participate in this support group because you are such a guiding light and wealth of information. After 2 years of research and saving rolleyes.gif , I am finally going to get my band on Monday April 25th. I'm excited and scared all at once. I know though that this is the right choice for me. Anyway, I'm glad to be here and wanted to just say HI!

HI queen! Welcome to LBT! What is your weight now? What is your goal weight? What part of the country are you from? Are you doing self pay? Who are you having your band by? Sorry I am so nosey :)

Make sure you PM Debbydo so she can add you to the April bandsters list!!!

Good for you! My mom and I are bandsters and we both feel like we've made great decisions. It's normal to be nervous, but you'll be on your way to a new thinner, healthier you. I wish you the best!

Sorry, I was having trouble figuring out my signature but, I think I have it now. I am from The Woodlands, Texas just outside of Houston. Yes, unfortunately I am self paying. My insurance has said that my policy will not cover anything to do with weight loss. I tried to fight but, they were not budging. Anyway, thank you all for the well wishes.

I was self pay in Mexico ($9,500) but some people have had it done in Mexico for about $8000. Just curious, how much is a self pay for your doctor? I wish I would have checked around a bit and found a states doctor. I like my surgeon but wish I could have been banded in the states.

My procedure will cost $15,000 including fills for the first year. I really like Dr. Spivak. He is truely wonderful and extremely knowledgable. I know I'm in the best hands. I realize it would be cheaper to go to Mexico but, I just feel more comfortable in the states.

best wishes for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery, Drama Queen!! Come back and let us know how it went when you can. :)
