I have been lurking in the shadows for some time now and thought I should introduce myself. I also wanted to thank all of those that participate in this support group because you are such a guiding light and wealth of information. After 2 years of research and saving , I am finally going to get my band on Monday April 25th. I'm excited and scared all at once. I know though that this is the right choice for me. Anyway, I'm glad to be here and wanted to just say HI!

Good for you! My mom and I are bandsters and we both feel like we've made great decisions. It's normal to be nervous, but you'll be on your way to a new thinner, healthier you. I wish you the best!

Sorry, I was having trouble figuring out my signature but, I think I have it now. I am from The Woodlands, Texas just outside of Houston. Yes, unfortunately I am self paying. My insurance has said that my policy will not cover anything to do with weight loss. I tried to fight but, they were not budging. Anyway, thank you all for the well wishes.

I was self pay in Mexico ($9,500) but some people have had it done in Mexico for about $8000. Just curious, how much is a self pay for your doctor? I wish I would have checked around a bit and found a states doctor. I like my surgeon but wish I could have been banded in the states.

My procedure will cost $15,000 including fills for the first year. I really like Dr. Spivak. He is truely wonderful and extremely knowledgable. I know I'm in the best hands. I realize it would be cheaper to go to Mexico but, I just feel more comfortable in the states.
