I am 6 days postop and feel pretty good but I get soooooo......hungry about 1 hour after eating something. I feel like I am starving. I think 6 weeks of this will drive me crazy. Does it get better with time? It makes me feel pain to nausea. Does anyone else feel this way? mama59:thumbs_down:

I am 5 days post-op and I"m starving too!!! I"m on liquids for the first week, then mushies for 2 weeks. I don't know how much more broth, jello, or protein drinks I can do!!!!! My doctor told me the band is not turned "on" until the fills start. So I"m trying to keep positive and drink my hunger away!!! Did anybody else feel this way?????

I'm hungry too! I can't wait to get a fill to help. This is why it's called banster hell!!!

I was banded on April 24th and I'm starving too. I don't know what to do because I can feel myself filling up with gas and my stomach is growling like crazy. Why wasn't I hungry during my three weeks pre-op on the optifast diet and now I am?

Its so hard not to think about food especially when we can't have it. I am three weeks post op and my Dr. said its ok for me to be on solids. But I tell ya that first three weeks was whack!! Try diffrent kinds of soups (without chunks). DanActive is great and it has yummy flavors. When you go out, take a protein drink, a Dan Active and a jello, with you, in your purse. Oh yhea and slimfast is good too. I would put it in the freezer and pretent it was a milkshake. That how I got through the liquid phase. Sometimes I worried if I made the right decision but now that I am back on solids I feel much better about the band.

I felt the same way but now on mushy stuff I feel a bit better . . . still I am worried I am eating too much.

i was banded on 04.21.08 and i'm not sure it's hunger that i'm really feeling... i think i just miss chewing. i almost gave into temptation today. i was going to have a baked potatoe instead of mashed potatoes. i took one bite and it just didn't taste as yummy as i had expected it to so i threw it away. i have one more week of full liquids and then 2 weeks of mushies. i'm really looking forward to scrambled eggs!

Oh thank goodness!! It's been 5 days post op and I thought I was the only one suffering. I will confess I cheated and had some mushies, but felt like crap afterward. Gas has finally settled somewhat. But not sure how many more days of the liquid stuff I can do.

This is hilarious. I was thinking that Thank God I'm not the only one feeling this way. I was beginning to feel like I was the freak among everybody else that can't get more than 2oz of food down after their surgery!

I've been kind of cheating with very miniscule amounts of mushies, too. I can officially begin them on Wed (today is Sun), and I've been OK for the most part. A Keeber Club cheddar cracker didn't like me earlier today, so I've backed off for now.

Just know I'm right there in the hungry line next to all of you :wink2:

I was banded on 3/31 and I was actually starving like 3 days out. I heard so many people saying they had no appetite like 1 to 2 weeks out and I was like, what's wrong with me! But yeah, I was starving living on just the liquids, but it gets better.

Oh my! Every single word I've read on this post is ME!!!! I've been banded one week today and I feel like I could eat a horse! I've been thinking maybe something was wrong, the band's not on there right or something. I am soooo glad to know I'm not alone!!!

Also, I'm home from work and watching alot of tv and come to the conclusion they should make them stop food commercials like they did cigarette commercials! I want everything.....there's this one commercial for a brownie crumble iced coffee with whipped cream from Tim Horton's that is driving me nuts because I can almost justify it as being a liquid! lol

All in all tho' this is good....I've lost like 15 lbs w/pre-op and post-op and that's what I wanted. The bloating is not as bad and actually I feel pretty good.

In many ways, it's like sensory deprivation. Just let yourself feel it and then move on.

Remember that it's for a short period of time and keep your eyes on the prize!:wink2:

I got banded April 17th. I am finally off of Fluids and on to the Mushies stage, hopefully I will feel a bit more satisfied.

Also, I don't know what your docs told you, but mine said these first 4-5 weeks were for healing, not to stress a lot about weight loss, and to have an extra Protein shake (a small one) during the day if I felt hungry. I've done that a couple of times, and it helped somewhat.

The rest of the time it's either sugar-free popsicles or "Hello Jello!" (ugh!:wink2:)

Looking forward to my first fill on May 20th!

I 'm two weeks post op and I have already had dinner out! Chicken breast with mushy yellow peppers and a few mushy onions slices, sweet potato and sugar free cheese cake for desert. I admit I felt beyond stuffed when I ate it, and I did mash everything up very small, then chewed my brains out. But it felt good to eat again. I have lost 26 pounds in two weeks, and 10 pounds the week before for a total of 36 pounds in 3 weeks. My exeperience is "trial and error" If it doesnt feel good, STOP! If you can start out small, a tiny bite of soft food here and there, you seem to transition quicker. My firt 6 days after surgery consisted of one ounce of liquid very 15 minutes, (all day)protein shake (chocolate and vanilla), sugar free jello, skim milk, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, green tea! My second week I transistioned into scrambled eggs, tuna with mayo, egg salad, some chicken salad, although that was a slow move, and nearing the end of the second week I got brave and ate sweet potato (no skin) baked potato, soft (non green) veggies such as carrots and some toast. Im back to drinking my Tim Hortons coffee everyday as well. I am at full speed energy wise as well! Two weeks to the date! :wink2:

Hunger? HA! I can't stop thinking about food! I am 2 weeks out today and I still have to do the liquids for another 2 weeks! I have cried at times because of the pains. The grumbling is painful enough. Soups are the only thing that tie me over for more than an hour. I wake up hungry in the middle of the night, too. I just can't believe the difference between the doctor recommendations with the other posters on this site. Some eat mushies in 2 weeks, some have to wait, like me, for 6. I'm jealous of you lucky ones!!! I just can't get those protein shakes down. The smell alone when I sip them makes me gag. I want to get on with it and start eating regular food again. I am just so frustrated. It's such a mental game. I did cheat yesterday and got some mashed potatoes at KFC. Those were the best damn things i have ever eaten!!

Isn't it great to know there is a whole bunch of us in the same boat, feels great to hear people relate. We all took the hardest step so keep your heads up and keeping moving forward while the pounds come off:lol:
