  1. Hi Georgia girl,

Returning this week from Hilton Head SC and visited Savannah, Georgia. What a grand place! I came home from gaining 7 pounds on vacation and trying to find some motivation to get the weight off. I had lost 50 pounds but have regained 7 pounds. I was banded in April of 2008. I am wondering if the low carb diet aggrevates the gallbladder. I have stones and want to start the low carb but worried about that. I like the choices you have made and am ready to get back on track. Thanks mama 59

    Kinda Gross but I'm curious

    Miralax....Miralax....Miralax...its a wonderful thing.
  3. I would also like to try the 5 day pouch test. I am discouraged as I don't feel like I can go much tighter with the band so it looks like dieting is the way to go. I am glad I did this but want to lose 40 more pounds. 95 pounds is great. I wish I could say that. Thanks to both of you for replying back.
  4. Hi, I am a nurse. I was banded in April of 08. I am not loosing the weight like I want. I lost most of my weight the first month and then little by little. I am definately not loosing the amount I should be. I have 5.0 in a 10 cc band. I had an unfill 2 weeks ago. Now I can eat too much. I was definately too tight before that as I couldn't keep down my pills and could eat a couple bites and then I was stuck. I feel better but now not tight enough. I am frustrated and hungry most of the time. I just ordered some DVD's to get the exercise going again. I would like a buddy to help me along. If someone is out there with some advice or has the time to help that would be great. Thanks mama59:wub:
  5. Hey all, I had my f/u appointment today. One week down and doing well. I had 14 pounds gone...yeah me. The surgeon told me to start lumpy foods. He said to stay away from bread and meat but to advance slowly. I am happy. I had some cottage cheese for lunch but I am scared and at a loss for what to have for supper. If you have any ideas for me that would be awesome. thanks mama59:thumbup:

    Flatulence

Hee Hee, I am right there with you!!!!!! Since the lapband I have been taking benefiber, so maybe that explains it. I have always been very discreet when it comes to that and it is embarassing to say the least. Maybe it will get better. mama59:embaressed_smile:
  11. :eek:Everyone is different but I took 1 week off of work but ended up going back in 2 weeks instead. Dealing with the liquid diet and the gas pain was difficult, I can't imagine doing it away from home.
  12. I was banded the 22nd also. I couldn't poop for 2 days and I was bloated and felt full. I was used to going everyday and wanted to continue that. I wanted to take benefiber but wasn't sure if I should. I called the surgeon and he had me take an enema. I did and felt way better. It got me going and I take benefiber daily in my crystal lite. You can't possibly be putting things in your system without something coming out. (sorry to be blunt or crude). Call you surgeon. He needs to know. mama59
  13. You are correct. A ml is the same as a cc. lol mama59
  14. I am ten days out and still find myself with discomfort. my port site is very tender and tonight I have pain on my right side up into my back. I think it depends on the person and how much you are doing. My surgeon said the port site will be tender for quite awhile. mama59

    Help - I gained 4 pounds

I had to do the 6 month physician supervised diet. In that time frame I didn't loose 1 pound but gained 4. I was told that the amount doesn't matter it is the compliance factor that counts. The fact that you were trying, that you saw the doctor every month and tried to do what they suggested. I was approved at the end of the six months. mama59
  16. As a nurse, my thought is that something is wrong and yes you need to let the surgeon know all that is going on. Let them be the ones that decide. You don't want to become dehydrated. mama59
  17. Diid you prepare the chicken? If so what is the recipe? I had my week follow up also and he told me lumpy foods for now (I took that as mushie). I am having a hard time coming up with stuff to eat. Thanks mama59

    Protein????

I ate alot of the high protein jello. I put either the vanilla unjury with any flavor jello (sugar free) and then some sugar free cool whip. I also used the strawberry sorbet unjury with any of the red jellos. They have chocolate that I mixed with soy milk and a couple of ice cubes in the blender. I don't blen very hard or it gets too much air in it. I couldn't handle the chicken soup unjury but personal preference. mama59
  19. I am 6 days postop and feel pretty good but I get soooooo......hungry about 1 hour after eating something. I feel like I am starving. I think 6 weeks of this will drive me crazy. Does it get better with time? It makes me feel pain to nausea. Does anyone else feel this way? mama59:thumbs_down:
  20. wow.....I never thought so many would be feeling the same as me. Thanks to all that have replied. Today I have a HA and a very sore throat and a cough. I haven't even been anywhere to catch anything. GREAT just what I need.......mama59
  21. I am day 6 and doing pretty well. I thought for sure that someone had punctured my lung when they put in the trocars during surgery. My neck and chest hurt so bad. I couldn't imagine what they could have done to my neck to make it so hard to move. I kept using the incentive spirometry they gave me so I could keep my lungs moving. I could get it to 2000 or 2500 and figured if I could do that then I couldn't possibly have a collapsed lung. The next day I was so much better. Keep taking the pain medicine. My problem now is that I feel like I am in continual starvation mode. I eat (drink) my meals and within 1 hour I am so darn hungry, almost to the point of pain or nausea. I keep telling myself it will get better but 6 weeks of this will be hell. I hope you get to feeling better. mama59
  22. I am 4 days post op. Things have gone pretty well. I was in misery the first two days with neck, back and shoulder pain. I took the liquid Vicodin every 4 hours which helped alot along with the heating pad. I did two full days of clear liquid and have advanced to some very thin cream of wheat this morning, baby food applesauce and creamy vegetable soup for lunch. I feel relatively good and haven't had pain meds all day. I took some Milk of Mag yesterday without results and took a glycerin suppository about 30 minutes ago with no results. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments. I think I would feel less bloated if I could only "poop" if you know what I mean....Maybe with liquid diet there is not enough in there? I hear my tummy growling and I have hunger pain. Anyone else have this going on?

    Just Banded

I had cream of wheat for breakfast with milk and splenda, coffee, crystal lite, sugar free popscicles, blended some split pea soup (that was kind of bad), high protein jello with sf cool whip, and for supper some chili blended. I also like a cup of sf vanilla chai. I spread all this out over the whole day. sounds like alot I guess. mama59

    Just Banded

Today is a better day for me. I called the doctor yesterday because I was miserable with gas pain and couldn't "poop" lol!!!!!! I was told by the surgeon to do a fleets enema. Being a nurse I have given alot of enemas but never have given myself one! It actually wasn't too bad....I know that sounds weird. So today things are better and my family laughed at me because I came out of the bathroom doing the "oh yea I Pooped" dance. Small strides. I actually went to the grocery store and did a little housework. I go back to the doctor on Tuesday also. I agree that it is hard to know if it is hunger or just lots of rumbling. Although I woke at 4:30 A.M. with extreme hunger. I drank a little crystal lite and went back to sleep until 8:30. It is also hard I noticed to cook for the family and not nibble while I do so. It is just bad habit I guess. Glad to be sisters in surgery. mama59
