I'm on my 2nd fill and I really want some advice! I am only 2months out and I really dont wanna get disouraged but I cant help it! I wanna see the pounds come off faster I am working out and trying my hardest not to eat more than I think I should be eating. I eat wayyyy less than I used to but more than I thought I would be able to :confused2: And I don't really feel any restriction yet. Weird ... 3rd fill is Monday April 28th! Hope it works! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My weight loss was slow too and actually still is. I had my 4th fill with a 14cc band and still have no restriction. This time around I finally do feel full after a meal but that is about it. I can eat whatever I want really, so I pre-portion my meals and eat no more than that. I exercise 1 1/2 - 2 hours, 3 times a week and have a physical job. From what my nutritionist said, if you are working out, you cannot eat too little calories and don't go by the scale. When working out the numbers on the scale mean less. The calories count though. I was eating 1200 or less. She did some type of calculations on her device and said I should eat no less than 1400 calories. She said when you work out, the body needs the calories to work efficiently in exercising - eat too little - it stores them as fat - so you will lose less. I don't know what your minimum calorie intake should be, check with your nutritionist - generally add about 300 extra. She also stated about builidng lean muscle weight. I didnt' really believe her but she said to start measuring and I would see a difference. I followed her instructions, went up to 1400, 3 dairies a day and a balanced diet and too my amazement, I started dropping regularly. Before I would go weeks without losing - I am now at least losing 1 lb a week - still not too happy about that - but.... I am losing the inches. Good luck, be patient and don't just rely on the scale. If you are doing what you should be - meaning eating balanced, lower calorie meals and exercising - it will come off. It's not a race and we will be doing this the rest of our lives so learn how to eat right and go with it. I wish you well.

So does that mean you ain't eating solid foods?

I am on my 2nd fill, I have a 9cc band and got 3cc's on the first one. I had no restriction at all so I got a 2nd fill 1 week later of 3cc's more and now i fianlly have it....But, I cant get solids down....Ive only lost 17 pounds since Feb. 7th....Im not sure why Im not losing weight but it must have something to do with the solids not going through....Who knows.....

IMHO switch docs! This guy/gal just wants to make money off from you! What a load of crap!

IMHO don't switch doctors until you've tried taking his advice and eating solid foods. It sounds like you are still living on soft foods and that really works against everything that the band will do for you. Soft foods are essential in your first few weeks while you are healing but after that you NEED the solid food to feel the "full" effects and tame your hunger. For example, you'd probably find it quite easy to eat 2 cups of cream of chicken Soup and still might feel hungry at the end of that. Instead try 1/2 cup of solid chicken meat and a small salad, and I'll bet you feel MUCH more full!

The band won't "magically" make you lose weight - all it does is help you to feel full so you don't eat as much. This won't work if you don't try the solid foods. The soft foods generally have way more calories, carbs and fat than solid food e.g. 2 cups of cream of chicken soup can be as high as 358 calories, 20g fat, 30g carb, 15g protein, whereas 1/2 cup of chopped chicken breast (no skin) with a green salad is only 144 cal, 3g fat, 7g carbs and 22g protein. What's more, this will make you feel FULL!

Honestly, my weight loss has been gradual. My doctor is great, if I want a fill he puts it in and if it;s too much he sees you after hours (at no charge) to take some out. I didnt loose a lot of weight in the start, it took a good 4 months. But you know we are all different and loose at different rates. In a years time, look back and then total what you have lost and I bet it is much better than what you would have done without the band. Goodluck to you, you can do it!!

It took me four fills and having 7.5 cc's in my 10 cc band to start really losing any significant weight..and I still have restriction 2 weeks after my fill which has never happened with any of the other fills so maybe this 'is' my sweet spot! Keep my fingers crossed. My advice is keep going for those fills as often as your dr.will let you- restriction WILL come with enough fills, I promise!

It took me 5 months / 7 fills = 8.5cc's in 10cc band before I got proper restriction. It was a little daunting, the wait - hang in!!

I was banded October 9, 2007 and wasn't given a fill for 6 weeks. I have a 10cc band, and hadn't really felt any restriction till my last fill and that put me at 9cc in the band. I am still able to eat anything but have to make the choice not to eat the breads and sweets because I want to lose weight more. You must eat your protein first and then your vegetables and then your fruit if you have room. You didn't say if you have to pay for each fill you get or not. Talk to your Dr. and let him/her know how you are feeling, most Drs. want you to have good results. I was told the first 6 weeks is healing time for the band and not really meant as "weight loss" time. You didn't put this weight on overnight and it is not going to come off overnight. You are retraining you body and it may seem like it is taking a long time but it is worth it. It is a long journey so hang in there. Good Luck :biggrin:

:biggrin: on number 3. dr says keep coming in weekly till i have restriction. i think i'm there. its so funny though some food like some junk foods go down without any problems, then i go to eat turkey or broccoli and can not. go figure. i have lost a couple more pounds since my 3rd fill. yes i want it to come off fast also, trying really hard to have patience. i will not go back till week of 21st for another .5 cc so well see. the journey is beginning. i just want to see more in my face. :tongue:

I don't know what to say. I was banded on 12/26/07, I have lost 42 lbs with no fills. I definitely think everyone reacts differently. I have had a lot of problems with PB's and I have to really be careful about what I eat and how fast. I can't imagine having a fill and not being able to get food down. Even though I supposedly don't have any restriction with no fills, I think something is keeping the food from going down like it used to.

I know it is frustrating for me as well. It is difficult because i am pretty far away from my doctor so I have only been able to have 2 fills. I am going in for my 3rd but i am still not satisfied with restriction and want to be loosing weight more quickly. Sometimes I get really full and then other times not at all it is very inconsistent with me. Hopefully he will give me the answer this time but he said once you get to the spot where your fill is correct you should loose about a pound a week. SO you are on the right track with one pound a week! Keep going stick in there. My problem that I struggle with is drinking alcohol because I am 25 years old and it is such a social thing and I love drinking. But it is a waste of calories so I am going to try and allow myself once a month. We'll see how it goes!

It was after my 3rd to 4th fill. Hard to say exactly because I had to have revision surgery for flipped port right around then and have some fluid removed.

It took me forever to get to my sweet spot. I had over 10 fills in 18 months. I finally hit my sweet spot 2 months ago but had to have a slight unfill for plastic surgery on Monday. I have since gained back 5-7 lbs which took me 2 months to lose. Go figure!
