Just got my surgery date for May 12th....anyone else having theirs that day?

KE and Lindsay, I'm sorry recovery is rough. I really hope all the pain and discomfort eases asap. Can I ask what pain meds they're giving you? Do they give anything for the gas like degas? I'm wondering if I should bring some in myself next week.

Nothing helps for the gas pain except walking. They had me on dilaudid and oxy for pain.

I survived! Recovery is rough, especially the first 24 hours. For me it was the nausea more than the pain. I absolutely hate being sick at my stomach and I vomited a couple times on surgery day and day 2 post op. Plus the taste of my toothpaste made me nauseous this morning. So weird. Feels like morning sickness all over again! ??? but medicine does help!

Hello everyone! I’m Caitlin and I’m new to the group. My VSG surgery is scheduled for May 18th. I am starting my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow.

Same here. They gave me some gas x but it did nothing really… I really haven’t gotten much relief from the gas pains until today (2 days post op). Today is a lot of soreness and feeling like my abdomen area is under a lot of pulling sensations when standing up, sitting down, and walking. It is getting better though… I also had a hernia repaired and that hurts a pretty good bit itself too…

My surgery date is May 12th. Just got the authorization from insurance company. I’m so excited. Who else is May 12?

Thanks. I'm doing OK, but not great. Everything tastes nasty, the liquid meds are awful, the pain comes and goes, but manageable. It's been a hard week to be honest.

Had my surgery yesterday! Everything went well and I should be going home later today.

Lots of us having surgery next week! I'm definitely starting to feel the nerves but am so excited.
