Drains are out Hooray!! I am on soft food for 4 weeks 1 protein shake a day. I am so happy to get those drains out.

First non-scale victory. Down a pant size!

Hey everyone, been nearly 24 hours and I feel pretty good. Surgery went great. Spent the night in hdu because of my sleep apnoea. I think I'd have been here anyway as my blood pressure was 180. Settled now but still on high side so I'll monitorat home and see my gp to review. Could just be the whole experience right now raising it. I've been having IV fluids mostly and can have 50mls fluid an hour. I'm doing a barium swallow shortly and if there's no leaks I can have full clear liquids. Going to bariatric ward in about 90 minutes too where I'll have my own room.
My pain is manageable, only discomfort at the higher incision sites. It was quite painful in recovery initially. I had nausea then too and felt like I needed to burp. Gas pain does hurt but I don't have much of it and when it comes it's only a few seconds only.
Going home tomorrow as long as I'm drinking around 1 litre.

Then I gotta allow 10 min or so before I put anything else down the chute. At first I couldn’t even get 3 oz of my protein shakes down at a time, but now I’m getting half shakes down 4 times a day. I also had some Greek yogurt tonight. I absolutely hated Greek yogurt before surgery, but was so good and felt good in my stomach too. I also now like unsweetened tea and I used to be 100% sweet tea girl. It’s absolutely crazy how your body changes.

Good luck to everyone with surgeries coming up this week. Thoughts and prayers are with you all. The pain doesn’t last forever, and things will get better quickly. Soon, we’ll all be looking back and celebrating our success and seeing these moments of struggle as just stumbling blocks on our journey!

Oh, and 22 pounds down from start of pre-op as of this morning!! ??

Hi everyone, Remember we are all beautiful and one of a kind works of art the Lord has created. Just like diamonds, some were laying out easy and others required a lot of sweat and tears. I think you might be onto something CarolineLittle, and the type of surgery makes a difference. Oh joy (sarcasm dripping from my tongue). I am having a band revision to RNY bypass, plus I am hoping they repair my hiatal hernia too.
I will pray for you all. By the way I am getting the feeling my hubby will try to over encourage my drinking.

I survived! Recovery is rough, especially the first 24 hours. For me it was the nausea more than the pain. I absolutely hate being sick at my stomach and I vomited a couple times on surgery day and day 2 post op. Plus the taste of my toothpaste made me nauseous this morning. So weird. Feels like morning sickness all over again! ??? but medicine does help!

Hey, all. Surgery went well yesterday. My surgery sight isn't very painful, but the gas is. I'm still recovering in the ICU. They have me here because of getting an RNY and I'm on cpap. The staff has been great. I didn't sleep well last night. Too many beeps, leg compression device, and discomfort. But better than yesterday.

Tomorrow, May 1st, is the day. I check in at 7:30. Pray or wish me luck; whatever is your jam, I'd appreciate it. I'm a bit nervous and so very ready. "See" y'all on the flip side.

Welcome aboard Lisa! And yes, the pre-op diet isn't fun. You got it though! Mind over matter. I'm on day 19 of 28.

Idk if I can have SF gum, but I don’t see why not. I can’t imagine it would hurt anything. I go in to the surgeon tomorrow to sign my consent and go over everything one last time, so I’ll ask him. Thanks for the tip, LindsayT! ?
