Zero pounds…

Hey all!! Today I had my first weigh in appt after the consultation. It sucked…. I did not lose any weight. The doctor thinks it’s because I’m either consuming too much protein or the type of protein. I was drinking 3-4 protein drinks a day due to my wonky job schedule. I’ve been drinking premier protein and protein2O. My doctor said that he’s noticed that the patients that drink the premier protein are either not losing or they are gaining. This was really frustrating being that I have been diligently working hard at losing weight. So I will now only drink 1 protein water and 1 protein shake a day. My questions are… what protein shakes are y’all drinking during the pre-op weight loss phase? Has anyone noticed an increase in weight with the premier protein? They keep pushing bariatric advantage, but I fearful because my stomach is ultra sensitive to some dairy things.

im really trying hard to not get discouraged. I would help to hear others difficulties during this phase to know that I am not alone or weird. Thanks a lot.

I cook my fish in the Air fryer as well. Canadian white bass and Orange Roughy seasoned with lemon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder it is really good. Fish is the protein I eat. Plant based is the food style I follow it is challenging though. I tend to do better if I have something to follow already planned out. Like the plan I brought home after the surgery.

Now I’m doing Whole Foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If I’m hungry aside from that, I drink only 1 premier protein shake during the day. I’ll have surgery in a few months. I wish I was losing a lot of weight but I’m not. Pcos and fibroids makes it extremely hard to lose more weight.

You are doing great!!! Just drink 1 shake a day or none at all. Save the shakes for the liquid pre op diet. You got this!!!??

I too am lactose intolerant and love fish as my protein choice! I found I got less picky after surgery because my choices become more limited for a while. I used OWYN protein drink. There are more choices on Amazon. I did not use shakes except to taste until the pre-op diet. I lost 75 lbs before the pre-op sticking to eggs, and fish for protein. My dietitian has a range of protein for me to eat daily. Your dietitian will probably have that for you too. It was very hard for my to loose weight on the pre-op and post op liquid phase. My dietitian (sounds so bougie) fingered out there was too many carbs in the drinks for me to loose, even though I was 900 cal. or less. (Irish potato famine and Holocaust descendant). Each person is unique so it’s really a trial and error experiment to find what works with you. Having a professional who’s seen this before has helped me figure out what is sustainable. You can do this! Making mistakes just means you learned a new way to try instead.

I am not sure why I am just seeing this and it looks like you have some good suggestions already but I just want to add that I have been on premiere shakes since day one and I am losing so I second it that it’s not the brand. I would also limit the avocado and nuts during weight loss phase. They are healthy fats but still fats (at least make sure you are measuring and counting the calories).
