Lose Weight And Keep It Off

Recommended Posts

Though regain and difficulty with maintenance is very common....Few people who are struggling with regain stick around and post on this board. Most folks here are new to surgery and excited about possibilities, going through the process...high energy.

You will see a few people talking about regain on the veteran's forum and revision boards.

If you want statistical information about percentages of people who reach goal, regain, what is considered "a success" in the industry...talk to your bariatric surgeon. They are excellent, tough questions that you really should ask.

I just watched a video from a surgery center's new patient information and they said most patients keep off at least 50% of what they lose. So yes, there is definitely a concern of regain, but most people don't regain ALL of what they lost.

The nurse practitioner at my clinic said the difference between those who keep the weight off and those who gain it back is usually those who make a lifestyle change vs those who just let the surgery do the work. Those who just limit calories because of restriction by still eating the same foods as they did pre surgery in smaller portions are usually not as successful as those who make actual changes to their nutrition that are both healthy and sustainable. Makes sense…Eventually we will be able to eat larger portions again and if we are eating the same food that got us in trouble before it will probably result in regain.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
