May Surgeries - check in!

  • Popular Post

Looking for other May 2021 folks to share the journey with! I'm scheduled for May 5th and start my liquid diet in just a few days. Anyone else on/around the same time? What kind of pre-op diet do you have? I admit I'm super nervous about how I'm going to manage the next couple of weeks and keep up my energy at work.

I'm still on full liquids so currently my day is usually as follows: half a protein shake first thing, fluids, half a greek yogurt, fluids, other half of protein shake, 4oz strained soup, fluids, half a greek yogurt, fluids, more soup or sugar free pudding, protein shake or water, sometimes broth some times a sugar free popsicle. I try to hit over 40oz on regular fluids and then protein shakes or water get me to 64oz for the day. And I'm averaging 60-70g protein. Currently around 400 calories in a day. I'm dying to move on to purees, I would love a scrambled egg or egg salad. I like to torture myself at night watching tiktoks of other people eating delicious food [emoji1787]

I was sleeved may 25th..

Still have some pain from gas and the big cut..

Not sure if I'm eating enough but I have had diarrhea and gas but no burping gas..

I feel alot of bubbles in my chest and when I drink a cold drink like gatorade zero once it hits my stomach it hurts.

My VSG Surgery is tomorrow 5/28 @ 1130am. I am going to be going home same day about 6-7hrs after the surgery is complete as long as I am drinking, walking, and I can go to the bathroom. Since I will be home my first night, should I be sleeping on my back or have people been able to sleep on their sides? I am a side sleeper and was wondering.
I had my surgery done 5/19 and as I side sleeper I am seriously tired on sleeping upright![emoji30]

I know this is tmi but I wanted to know if anyone is experiencing the same thing. Okay so, I don’t wear deodorant only if I am going to work so somewhere important or that I will sweat. I mean like if I am in the house for a week I won’t wear deodorant that whole week just regular showers and I won’t have no body odor period. So after the surgery I notice I had a body odor which I never had before. And it continues even after I bathed and I literally scrub scrub my under arms. Now I am noticing the smell other places. Has anyone experienced this. I am trying not to panic. Please help

Sounds like Keto. Your body is in ketotsis and that cause odd odors, including breath and your hootchy, your sweat will smell different as well as your urine. How far post op are you?

I am 6day post op

Yes that is about right for ketosis. your carb intake is low, as well as fat. Only takes about 3 days to get into ketosis.

Good luck to everyone with surgery on the last day of May - myself included. Surgery in less than an hour.

I thought the dame thing but two weeks flew by, you'll be ok. Just don't eat the same thing everyday.

Im day 6 and sleep on my side as well but use a small pillow to hold my stomach and so far that has worked for me.

My surgery was May 26th so I’m 5 days post op and I’m recovering well other than some gas pain
May surgeries — How’s your progress?

Surgery May 24, I am down 12.7 pounds.

Sleeved on 5/25. Doing well so far! Not using pain meds, no gas issues, getting my proteins, fluids, and meds/vitamins on schedule. I’m doing laundry today (husband is moving wet clothes from washer to dryer), and exercise feels great. I will not miss the tenderness from the big incision although I see daily improvements.
