Low BMI ESG or VSG
I live in SC and for VSG (self pay) it's around 24,000. That's why I'm going to Pompeii Surgical in Tijuana Mexico. It's less money, better care and there stats are really good

Keeping surgery a secret? What did you tell others?
Me personally, I made a private group on FB and invited the people I wanted to share my journey with especially since I knew I was going to get a lot of stigma from people because I'm having my surgery in Mexico. Luckily I haven't had too many issues.

Getting clearance from neurology
I have had 2 strokes, my last one being almost 5 years ago. The surgeon who I'm wanting to do my gastric sleeve is wanting clearance from my neurologist. No biggie. I'm just curious who else has a history of stroke who's had the gastric sleeve done. Were there concerns? How was recovery? Sent from my SM-G970U using BariatricPal mobile app

Waiting is such a pain!!!
So I am at the VERY beginning of my journey. I found a hospital that I like and they have been super helpful. I'm currently waiting for approval from my insurance company so I can schedule my appointment. I wish that the hospital was closer but it's still in my state and it's around a 4 hour drive. Has anyone in SC gone through Roper St Francis in Charleston for their surgery? How was your experience? How long did you have to wait to hear back about your insurance?

Has anyone been able to use their insurance, UnitedHealth Care to get approved
I was just referred to a bariatric surgeon by my PCP last week. I reached out to my insurance company to see if the visit would be covered, which luckily I was told it would be. But I was wondering if anyone else has United Health Care and has been able to get approval for them to cover part/all your surgery? What was the process like? I'm hoping to get approved for surgery as soon as possible.
