Rant: The Word I Hate

  • Popular Post

I hate the word "pouch."

There, I've said it. I feel better now.

Yes, I know doctors use the word.

No, I don't have a better word.

I just don't like it.?

I refer to my new stomach as my banana. Sleeve sounds too much like foreskin or something. Pouch just makes the bypass people sound like kangaroos. Kangaroos are cute.

  • Thanks. Now im going to be picturing penises when I say sleeve. on the bright side, kangaroos ARE cute.

  • That's so funny, it bothers me too! I have absolutely no idea why, but I never use it.

I have a smaller stomach that works just like big one but better. I do not have a pouch :)

+1 ?

I feel the same way about "moist" and to a lesser degree "journey". Must be a remnant of some childhood trauma, lol.

"moist" is a commonly hated word. In fact, there's a Facebook group for haters of that word.

Same on the word “moist”!! Lol
Journey-I’m guilty of saying that word on here. ???

I thought I was the only one with a dislike of the term pouch. It's just weird to me. Lol

I never got the pouch thing. Isn’t it still your tummy just smaller?

Kangaroos have pouches to raise & carry their young. A pouch is like a pocket, a sporran or a backpack to store extra things.

Let’s ban the word pouch.

BTW - Moist never bothered me. I use ‘journey’ a lot here - sorry.

RE: "Journey"

This is my hangup! No need to apologize ladies. I'll love you even if you use the dreaded word...I'll just read really, really fast past it....LOLOLzzzz.

This is funny, thanks for starting! Moist does not bother me, but I get how it could bother people. I am guilty of journey and have recently caught on to my over using it, especially with weight loss. I am trying to look for better alternatives, although I am not bothered by its use.

Words I hate-FAT, OBESE, BARIATRIC ???

(yes, I realize I am on "Bariatric"Pal! Sorry, BP, I like the website/ app/company???).

I hate "weightloss journey" too. I don't mind if anyone says it....it's my personal hang up, too. It's just so cheesily coined from My 600 Pound Life or something. My eye twitches over it. It's really not a bad term or anything...it just feels overused and cliche and makes me grit my teeth a little.

I picture two dogs and a cat on a log with a bear or something.

I have issues. LOL.

“Fat” has never bothered me, but i do notice that ALOT of people are uncomfortable with the word in one way or another. I have a friend who will whisper the word “fat”. And child of another friend of mine believes it s a a bad word akin to F*ck ??‍♀️

Soooooo…I try to use “big” or “bigger” on here and in non-close-family circles.
