I don't know what you can do after the fact but if food's getting stuck in there then I think you should be chewing more. A LOT more. Good luck!

  • Darn autocorrect I meant eating not earring lol

  • Are you chewing really well to an applesauce consistency? And earring slowly?

You can try hot water. My sisters trick. So glad she taught me that

How many times are you chewing and are your mouthfuls small enough?

Whatever size your current forkful, cut that in half and then chew like mad. You won't always have to be this careful, but in the beginning, your throat may still be irritated from the surgery. Also, what are you eating? Some solids are more difficult to get down than others and may require you to add moisture (aka sauce or gravy of some sort.)

I hate getting stuck what can you do to push the food down...it hurts so bad.

When I have gotten stuck from not chewing my food to mush, I would drink a lot of water and it would either go down, or come back out. Another reason why I can't wait to get this thing out. I forget to chew, chew, chew.
