I had gastric bypass on 3/19 and I am about 2 1/2 weeks post-op. My first two weeks after surgery I was on a full liquid diet. I moved on to the next phase of my programs diet on Tuesday. We do not do puréed food at all but move directly to solid proteins. Before switching I was struggling with knowing when I was full or hungry. Once switching to solids I can for the most part tell when I should stop eating. For most foods I can eat about 2 oz. However, tonight I had some homemade chili for dinner and I was able to eat a cup worth of chili. I’m not sure if it was because it was a liquid and had small bits of beans and hamburger but after I ate it I was shocked how much I ended up eating. I feel like sometimes I don’t have any restriction to my new stomach. How much are you able to eat at 3 weeks post-op?
