  • Yes I experienced this as well my doctor repaired my hiatal hernia....and every deep breath was painful...but it gradually gets better every day miss.carter

  • I had one too. Took a couple of days for the deep breaths to stop hurting, but it wiil stop.

  • Some studies say most obese people have hiatal hernias. Totally common for your surgeon to fix at the same time. Just a few stitches to tighten up the diaphragm. Feel better soon Sent from my SM

I had sleeve surgery on Monday and they discovered I had a hiatal hernia. Has anyone else had this happen? I’m home now and in so much pain. Every breath hurts.

I had one diagnosed a few months before my surgery. and they suck. But they have to fix it when doing surgery since your stomach is being herniated. Just bear it hopefully after surgery you will feel 100x better good luck and much love

I had a hernia repair too; my surgeon says it's pretty common. My surgery date was 12/17 too. i was pretty sore in that upper rib cage region - probably from hernia but pain didn't last. Do your deep breathing exercises, I think that really helped.
