Calling March Sleevers

Hi Everybody, my surgery is scheduled from March 12th (after my 2nd cancellation) but no more of those, I am full speed ahead with WLS this time around. My question is, how are most of you doing with your pre-op diet? My doctor didn't really give me one except to eat balanced meals and replace 1 meal with a protein shake every day. I've started that this week. Does anyone else have any helpful hits for this surgery? Things that are working or not working for them? Lastly, anyone else scheduled for March 12th!?

  • HI there! I'm scheduled for March 14th, praying I get approved. Here's the prep work I've done, beginning a few weeks ago: Dropped wine and coffee Limiting carbs to fruit and vegetables

  • Congratulations to you all, you guys have done all the hard work and now it’s just a waiting game for that day. I’m looking forward and stoked for all of you. My date is March 7.

Just had my pre-op with my surgeon. This is getting real!!

Hi All! This is my first time posting. I am scheduled form March 28th. My BMI is only 38 and I have mild sleep apnea. I am so afraid I will be denied. I have Aeta. Does any one have an experience with this? Good luck to all of you!

I had a BMI of 38 with a diagnosis of high blood pressure and was initially denied because my blood pressure was controlled(with bp meds) and my bmi was only 38..but I then went for a sleep study and was diagnosed with moderate obstructive sleep apnea.I was approved within a couple of days.I have UHC Community Plan.Best wishes and stay hopeful!!

Like @deirdreyr4, my BMI is 37 and sleep apnea turned out to be my co-morbidity. Insurance approved first try. Hope it works out for you!

Oh wow, insurance companies can be such a pain sometimes. I also have a “low BMI” 38 when I started the process. With high blood pressure controlled with medication. I have Cigna OAP. While going through all the test found out I also have mild sleep apnea. Luckily, I was approved with no problems got the good news just 5 days after office submitted.

What?? Your surgeon is asking for 20 pounds in a month??? Holy moly! What's your plan look like?

I am March 5th as well!!

March 5th here too!

I just had my last crab cake for a while. It was delicious!! Its 79 degrees today, and I met my husband at a local waterfront restaurant for lunch. I know its not forever, but I was a little sad to think that I probably won't be back there until this fall at the earliest. They do make the most stupendous gazpacho with lump crab in the summer, though. Hmmm....

Is anyone else having "last meals" before the 2-week pre-op starts?

Hubby and I went to Boston Lobster Feast the weekend before we started as our last mean and what a disappointment. Wish we had gone to Texas de Brazil instead. I feel cheated!

Ah, we have a Fago de Chao here -- now THAT is a place I sadly won't be going to again after my surgery, LOL. If you've never been to a Brazilian steakhouse and you have guys to feed, these kinds of places are quite an experience!
