    3 month anniversary

I haven't posted in a while and realized it's been 3 months today since my sleeve! Life has been so different since surgery. I was exhaustes all of the time until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Now I have all kinds of energy. I've been exercising since about week two. I ride my bike or walk. That's the extent of my exercise. I've lost pretty consistently since surgery, averaging 2 pounds a week. I'm eating approximately 800-1000 calories a day and at least 70 grams of protein. I still drink shakes-at least one a day, and sometimes 2. I still struggle to get water in. I'm lucky to get 24 ounces a day. I went from a tight size 18 pants to a loose 14. I even fit in a size 12 last weekend. Everyone tells me how young I look now. I'm not used to all the attention that I get, and it makes me quite uncomfortable. But it's to be expected. I'm so glad I did the surgery, and I'm even happier that hubby did it with me. Btw-he's down to 279 from 364!! HW 241 Pre Surgery Weight 3/1/18: 228 CW 182

    Gave birth last night.

Omg LOL I did that last week. Took me an hour and a half but I finally did it. Absolutely ridiculous. I had to take a nap afterwards. I'm ready for things to get back time normal. HW 241 Pre Surgery Weight 3/1/18: 228 CW 195

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I've been having back pain since my surgery, and it's only gotten worse. Trying to avoid seeing a chiropractor, so I had my first massage last night by a high school friend that also had the sleeve last year. I described my pain to her and she did a deep tissue massage. REGRETTING IT. I've been sick to my stomach ever since. Threw up last night, and have been nauseous ever since. Woke up this morning feeling the worst I've felt since surgery. Just awful. Went to work and my boss asked me if I was okay. Told her about my massage and she said the massage released toxins into my system, which is why I got sick, but that since I'm not able to drink enough water to flush the toxins out, they're sitting on my stomach making me sick. She used to be a massage therapist. She said I should've asked my doctor before getting the massage, but honestly, I never had a massage before so I didn't even think about it. Just FYI for those that experience the same back pain I've had. HW 241 SW 238 Pre-op diet CW 206 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18
  4. Sleeved on 3/1. Clear liquids 3/2. Doctor approved me for full liquids 3/5. I don't see him again until 4/9, but he said I'd be on soft foods before my appointment. He also said to start soft foods sometime this week but my memory is failing me (I really need to start writing these things down). My paperwork says Week 1 clear liquids, weeks 2 & 3 full liquids. Weeks 4 through 6 soft foods. When would I start soft foods? I've been on full liquids for two full weeks, which to me is week 2 & 3, since he released me to full liquids early. But then my paperwork says about soft foods "This stage represents the changes that you will be making in your eating habits on a permanent basis. It begins the 5th week after surgery...". So, I'm thoroughly confused. I called my doctors office twice yesterday, and emailed, for something else, but I haven't received a response back yet. I'm just wondering what the norm is and how this all gets interpretted. I'm not gonna start until I get additional information, but just wondering what everyone else's take is. Am I allowed soft foods yet?

@logicwand how are you doing so far? Are you getting in your protein? Water? How many calories are you consuming a day? How's your energy level? Have you started exercise?? HW 241 SW 238 CW 209 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I started back to work part-time last Monday and full time this past Monday. So far, I've kept my diet to my protein shakes, tuna and today I added a hard boiled egg. That's the extent of my diet, and I'm satisfied for the most part. I use the Starkist Tuna Creations pouches so no refrigeration is needed. They're really convenient and inexpensive. Post op pain

I'm so glad someone posted about this. I started having pain this morning, exactly as you all described. At first, I think it was an incision, but then I realized it was below my incision near my breasts, and above my belly incisions. It got progressively worse through the day, so I called my surgeons office after lunch. No answer. Left a voicemail. Pain had me in tears, so I left work. Called surgeon again. Voicemail. Here is it 5:30 in the evening and still no word from my surgeon. Glad I found this post. It put my mind at ease. HW 241 SW 238 CW 211 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

    February 2018 Success Stories

I had surgery on the 3/1/18 and I'm still on full liquids for another week. I've lost 15 pounds since surgery. I'm barely able to get 300 calories a day and I'm struggling to get even 30 grams of protein. My water intake is about 24 oz. A day. I say if you're stalled, go back to what you know-protein shakes. March dates

I was sleeved on the 1st, and was about to sleep on my side by day 3 or 4. That helped tremendously because I'm not a back sleeper. It was a little painful getting in and out of bed until around day 5 or 6. Today is day 10 and I have no pain at all. My incisions are healing up nicely. It's cold in Florida right now so I'm not really sure about the chills. I'll know more when it heats up a bit. The nausea-I had it really bad the first two days, but after that, I've only had it a few times. I haven't taken any meds for it. I just tried to drink my water and stay hydrated. Fatigue-I definitely have that problem. I feel good enough to go back to work full-time on Monday but I'm only going back part-time because I have to nap throughout the day, which isn't something I ever did before. My husband isn't having that problem at all (we were sleeved at the same time). So, everyone is different. Just take it one day at a time and know you're not alone. Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I'm 5'1" and my goal weight is 130. My doctor said that's certainly doable and realistic. I'm taking into account my big boobs and the fact that I know my tummy will have loose skin. If not for those two factors, I would say 120-125. HW 241 SW 238 CW 217 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

    Scared thinking of canceling surgery

Please don't let your family cause you to miss this opportunity for a healthier z happier you! I'm sure they have your best interests at heart, and they mean no harm, but your decision should not take their opinions into account. There's too much at stake to worry about opinions of non-medical professionals. Do what's in YOUR best interests. HW 241 SW 238 CW 217 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

These are a size 14 Capri that I was only able to squeeze into several years ago, and after dieting for a few months. I wasn't able to wear them for very long, and when I did, they were so dang tight. I'm 21 pounds down so far, and only a few pounds (and some swelling) from getting them closed. 14. My day is almost here! Surgery is scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow morning. Not feeling nervous but I expect it'll kick in shortly. My bag is packed, and I'm about to get to bed cuz I have to be up at 3am. Check in is 6am, and the hospital is an hour drive. Wish me luck and I'll see you all on the other side! Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I'm almost a week out from being sleeved, and I feel pretty good. I'm not a napper by nature, but every day since surgery I've had to take a nap, and I'm ready for bed by 8pm. I'm just so exhausted. I haven't been tracking my water or calorie intake but I'm gonna start doing that today. I was worried about being exhausted, so I was approved for 3 weeks off of work but I'm bored out of my mind so I'm probably go back part time next week. I have very little pain, and when I do, it's more towards the end of the day. Haven't taken pain meds since day 3 and that was only to knock me out since I was still having to sleep on my back. I've been eating Cream of Wheat (3 TBS uncooked is more than enough), and creamy soups. I usually get one protein shake in a day, as well. My stomach is still making all kinds of crazy sounds. Gas is almost completely gone. All in all, I'd say recovery was far easier than I anticipated it would be. My only complication is this terrible rash under my breasts and upper abdomen, which itches like crazy and doesn't seem to be getting any better. Hubby thinks it's from going braless for three days. Who knows. HW 241 SW 238 CW 218 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I'm so upset with my hubby right now. We're both 6 days post-oo and took a trip to the mall. After about an hour, I told him we had to go cuz I was getting thirsty. On our way out, we spotted vending machines with Gatorade. So the low sugar, low calorie flavors were sold out, so I said I'll just wait until we get home, and he actually got upset with me and said, really? So you're gonna avoid sugar for the rest of your life? And then we began to argue, which we NEVER do. I don't know how I'm gonna do this without his support. He wants to continue his old eating habits, just in less quantities. That's not how this works and I can't have him pressuring me into making bad choices. My marriage has honestly been IDEAL so far. Incredibly, unheard of WONDERFUL. But it won't survive if he's not on my team. It just won't. I'm so upset right now. HW 241 SW 238 CW 218 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

Wow. They're letting you move through quckly! I'm on clear liquids for a week, then full liquids weeks 2 and 3, then soft weeks 4 thru 6. I'm looking forward to full liquids. I'm hoping my surgeon clears me early for full liquids at my appointment Monday. 16 trips is awesome! Way to go!! HW 241 SW 238 CW 224 GW 130 Sleeved 3/1/18

    Surgery in the AM

Just made a trip to Walmart to pick up some more Gatorade and juice. Got 1500 steps in today, but I'm quite exhausted. Sipping some hot tea right now and gonna work up the energy to get another walk in. Pain isn't too bad right now. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Surgery in the AM

I went home yesterday around 1pm. Getting my walking in, gas is subsiding some. I'm on clear liquids but I'm not getting nearly enough. I'm trying though. Sipping water and Gatorade I'm exhausted, partially because I sleep more than a hours, and partially because not getting any protein or calories. I have my first post-op appointment Monday at 1. I'm doing okay. Gas pains are horrible. I'm walking, walking, walking and taking gasx but nothing is coming out. The gas builds up not only in my stomach but my left shoulder as well, which is so weird to me. Pain is moderate. Definitely relying on my hydrocodone every 4 hours. Waking up every 3 hours at night automatically to either drink or pee. It's hard getting used to only sipping, cuz anything more than that hurts. But I have no nausea and I'm feeling better today than I did yesterday. Just wish the gas would go away!! [emoji5] HW 241 SW 238 CW 226 GW 130 Sleeve 3/1/18

    Surgery in the AM

No, not everything but the surgery went well. I have horrible veins. Always have. And not drinking after midnight makes it even worse. But my veins have never been THIS bad. They stuck me in both my arms, both wrists, and both hands. After 5 nurses, one which is considered the best, they eventually called in the nurse anestatist and the anesthesiologist, who both recommended my neck, at which point I started to panic. Then they mentioned my feet, which I've had done before. But with 7 people working on me at the same time, slapping my veins and coming at me with needles and tournequets, I because very overwhelmed and started to cry. I'm not a crier. They did eventually put an IV in my left foot to get me to sleep, and then did another in my right foot after I was sedated. After I woke up I realized they also tried my shoulder while I was knocked out. Other than, which I'm used to having problems with my veins, everything else went well. It was just incredibly overwhelming at the time and I didn't think it was gonna end. HW 241 SW 238 CW 226 GW 130 Sleeve 3/1/18

    Surgery in the AM

Surgery went well for hubby and I. We were both very nauseous when we came out of sedation, and our mouths were drier than the dessert. But after a few hours, the nausea went away for the most part. The gas ain't no joke. Hubby hasn't had the pains but I feel like a baby is trying to karate chop it's way out of my belly. It's hard to breathe deeply but I'm doing my breathing exercises every waking hour. I've been up walking around quite a bit so I'm waiting for that to help. I've burped a few times but that's about it. Aunt Flow came to visit last night, and she's way now present then she normally is. It's kinda hard to take care of my female business due to the soreness. The surgical pain isn't THAT bad though. Nothing like a C-section at all. Far less painful. I basically feel like I did way too many crunches. Tomorrow morning is my swallow test, and then they switch me to fill liquids and then I can go home. My first words after waking up were "why did I do this to myself?" because I just felt so awful. But it was temporary, and I'm not regretting the surgery at this point.
