People heal at different rates and have different pain tolerance levels.

I drink normally at 2 years post-op and I have been drinking normally since about year 1. I can guzzle water with the best of them.

As long as you are drinking water and not calories, it doesn't matter.

I'm about 6 weeks out of surgery and I don't sip either. I can't guzzle a bottle of water, but I can drink it pretty normally without taking sips. Sometimes if I drink too fast I feel it and know I need to wait a while. I think you'd know if you were drinking too fast.

I've been not sipping since about 5 days out. Everyone is different (: just consider yourself lucky. Some people can still barely drink at two months!
