  1. You look fantastic! You're an inspiration for me to keep going! I'm one year and eight months in. I started at 328 and got down to 237...but I've gained some back and I'm trying to get motivated to get back on track. Seeing your progress is so wonderful Congrats!

    An honest update. Weight Gain

    Bajan, wondering how you're doing. I'm almost 2 years out and starting to feel that slide. I'm determined to get it back under control and came on bariatric pal looking for some support. I used to post here regularly and life happened and my health took a back seat. I'm not going down without a fight.
  3. I'm following this thread, and horrified that it applies to me as well! I was sleeved in August of 2017 and lost about 85 pounds. I never got to my goal weight. At my lowest I was 237 (started at 328). I am back up to 250. I need to get back on track, and I'm so scared that this slippery slope will be impossible to stop. I still get full, but I can eat more than I could right after surgery. It's going to be harder now that I don't have the benefit of that full feeling. It was a huge decision for me to have that surgery, and I feel like I wasted that opportunity. I'm feeling really defeated.
  4. Bahahaha! This cracked me up! I was in the grocery store and someone said, "omg, what happened to you? You shrunk!" I stood there for a minute not quite sure how to respond. Thank you wasn't appropriate. Why do people do that?
  5. Thank you for this. I feel very disappointed in myself...feeling like I should have lost so much more by now. Reading this helped. And you're right. I am winning. I never gained back so I didn't really get out of control...and now I'm losing again so that's a huge improvement from what I've done in the past. I'm making progress.
  6. I love this philosophy! I feel like I'm very behind where I should be. I was sleeved on Aug 1, and I'm down about 72 pounds. The holidays were a real challenge and it's taken me some time to find my way back. I didn't really gain weight back but I stopped losing for at least a month. I feel like being on here helps to keep me focused so I'm going to try to check in more regularly. I have gotten back to the gym and I'm tracking everything I eat so I feel good that I'm back on track. I regret the time I lost, and I wish I was further along, but I guess this is a learning process. It's very mental/emotional for me. Being Italian with 4 kids the cooking is non-stop. I have to really work on my self control and the struggle is real! If I had iron will power I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place so it really is all about winning this battle in my mind first.

    I've been fine whenever I've eaten salads. Go slow and only eat a little bit until you see how it sits with you.
  8. Hey everyone! I've been MIA for a bit. The holidays were a real challenge for me. Home with my 4 kids baking cooking and making gingerbread houses and all the things we love to do. I decided to give myself a bit of a break. Ate some cookies and enjoyed the holiday. I didn't lose anything but I didn't gain either. Happy to say that after the 1st of January I got right back on track and am down 2 pounds... Having said all that...my daughter and I did some binge watching of This is Us over the break. I was surprised at the Kate story line where she considers having bariatric surgery and then decided not to because it was too risky. The doctor talked about an intense vitamin regimen and all the things that would be potential "problems" with having the surgery. The character, Kate, decided to not to go through with it because it was so terrifying. Now, I know this is just a tv show, but having just gone through this surgery a few months ago I was disappointed they showed it in such a negative light. Of course, everyone has to do what's best for them personally, but I wonder if anyone watching the show was considering surgery and had second thoughts.
  9. You're probably right! I guess it hit a chord with me because I feel like it's the best thing I've done for myself and they made it seem very scary and risky. I've never seen bariatric surgery featured as a story line on a tv show, but you're right. They probably only thought about how it advanced their story.

    In this picture I have lost 55 pounds since my surgery. I am so pleased when I see the difference in the way I look. I feel better and it's really starting to show on the outside too!!!

    Ok, someday when I'm dying for pizza I'll try this! It looks good in the picture My kids love cauliflower so maybe we can make it a fun Friday night and they can help me cook and choose their own toppings!

    Berry, have you tried the pastas made from chick peas? I hear they're very good...I haven't indulged yet. Also, there's a frozen pizza crust made from cauliflower. Being Italian I have these things tucked away for when I really need a pizza/pasta fix. (I haven't gotten there yet but I guess I like knowing I have the option!) I have eaten very low carbs for a long time. Before surgery I was trying to follow Atkins as closely as I could. Raw fruits and veggies are really the only carbs I eat, but it's nice to know I can still have pizza on a Friday night with the kids if I really want it.
  18. I agree with this 100%. Your symptoms sound alarming and you need to get checked out! If your doctor clears you for excercise you think about what Meryline said...starting slow and working your way up gradually. First things first!

    Not Feeling Full?

    For me it depends on what I'm eating. Every morning I make a scrambled egg with tomato. It usually ends up between 4 and 5 ounces, but it's mostly tomato. I use 1 egg each day. At lunch if I have tuna or chicken I can't eat 5 ounces...usually between 3 and 4...I try not to eat carbs like pasta or bread because it fills me up too much. Also, before my surgery I was an Atkins girl so I think it's partly habit. Are you keeping a food journal? That really helps me to sort out patterns that might be working against me. Wishing you the best!
  20. Does anyone with a sleeve take vitamin B pills? I ordered the B complex patch from this site, but I often forget to put it on. I don't understand why I can't just take a vitamin B pill with my other vitamins. There is also a liquid you put under your tongue. Has anyone had success with that?

    For a multi vitamin my doctor told me to get flintstones chewables. I take 2 a day. Also very inexpensive at walmart or the grocery store

    That calculator is awesome! Thanks for sharing it. According to the graph I'm running pretty close to 60% right now. That makes me think I need to ramp up my exercise because if I was on the 65% chart I'd have about 2 weeks to lose 14 pounds. Yikes! I know it's a just a guide and everyone loses at different rates, but I've had a few slow weeks and now I want to catch up

    Can't stop crying

    Where is information like this found? I feel like my expectations may be unrealistic, but I don't really know what to expect so I don't if I'm doing well. I was sleeved on Aug. 1 so it's 11 weeks today. I've lost 49-50 pounds...but for the last 2 weeks I've been bouncing around 278, 279, and 280. I went to the gym today and had my best workout ever. I'm eating very low carbs...I feel like I should have lost more by now. I understand that everyone is different, but how do we know if we're on track???
