Tattoos?

I just had someone tell me that they won't do surgery if you've had a tattoo within the last 6 months. Has anyone ever heard that or know a reason why you couldn't have surgery because of a tattoo? I'm confused....

Well, I was asked by the hospital when they scheduled my endoscopy and I thought it was odd so I asked around and a coworker said they can refuse surgery if you had a new tattoo. It sounds weird to me

I wasn't asked that either.. I am full of tattoos as well lol

  • Looked it up, fresh tattoos pose a risk of a possible skin infection and if it's too close to the surgery, most surgeons don't want to run the risk of an infection occurring with surgery.

It sounds weird to me too. I thought I'd throw it out here and see if anyone had that be an issue. I will update if I get a solid answer. Lol

I'm full of tattoos & they never told me that. In fact, my last tat was in December and I got sleeved in February.

Height: 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).

My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

Down to infection risk, it's a 12 month wait here if you get a tattoo for surgery unless it's life threatening.
