November 3, 20169 yr I wondered if any of you had success walking the dogs post op. I have two and they are large and pullers.... Should I leave them at home for a while post op or try it?
November 3, 20169 yr I have 2 minis. 12 and 15 pounds. A - they're jumpy and hard to get on the leash. B - they're tiny but mighty, everything feels more strenuous after surgery (initially). If my husband is home, he can help me handle them. Otherwise, they roam the backyard. It's excellent if you can do it but I'd have a back up plan
November 3, 20169 yr If you are going to try it, I'd make sure someone comes with the first few times while you get your bearings with it.
November 3, 20169 yr Walking my dog has helped me quite a bit! I get in extra activity that way! What kind of dogs do you have? If you can, I would suggest some doggie training. I'm still working on that one with mine. He can be quite strong. If they are pullers, I would give it a few more weeks, just to make sure you are fully healed. Then try a short walk to see how it goes. Edited November 3, 20169 yr by Pazza
November 3, 20169 yr Yup with pullers I'd leave them home for a little bit. I have a chihuahua so I thought it'd be okay. But he makes it about a block away and refuses to go further so I end up having to carry him. Immediately post op not so good, now, I guess it just adds to my workout. Lol!
November 3, 20169 yr I would not take the chance. Give it a few weeks. My dog was leashed in the backyard when she needed to go out for a couple weeks. Now that I am 4 weeks out I love walking her. Edited November 3, 20169 yr by NikkiRT
