I had my surgery on Wednesday and I feel horrible. I can't eat or drink, because when I try I feel so so sick and start gagging. I wish I had never done this. I'm so upset that I've been looking up 'stomach transplants'. I just want to die at this point. This surgery was the worst decision I ever made.

When I was that far out, I could literally only have Clear liquids.. maybe those are too much for u?

So glad I found this thread. You guys give me hope. I had my surgery 22nd August so I'm just 2 days post op.

The gas pains and nausea are the worst for me but day 2 is already better.

My surgeon wants me to be able to drink 1 liter of fluids in a day before I can be discharged. I'm really struggling with that for now but I'm going to hang on in there.

I had my surgery on Monday, August 15th and as of today am feeling much better! still have pain where they pulled the stomach out but that is easing every day. Hang in there!!

I feel you completely. I am so sorry I had this surgery. I am 2 weeks post op today and have never wanted a cheeseburger so bad in my life. I know everyone is going to say, I shouldn't have had the surgery them. I totally agree, but I can't do anything to turn back the clock now

@@nakole73 one of my favorite foods that I could have after one month is a "big mac salad"

so, a wee amount of chopped lettuce

a wee amount of ground beef cooked with salt pepper and garlic (I do a mix of ground sirloin and ground turkey breast, but you could do just ground beef)

some shredded cheddar

1 pickle slice chopped

one green onion chopped and a couple of drops of thousand island dressing

a few sesame seeds

totally scratches the cheeseburger itch!

sometimes now I have a small regular cheeseburger without the bun.

life will be more normal in a couple of months, I promise. then some of those regrets fade as your benefits increase.

Every once in a while I think about a horrible meal I used to have that made me feel so good at the time and I really, really want it. Badly. I can even smell it in my mind and wish I had not had this surgery so I could stuff my face and get that feeling back. Then I come to my senses and realize that if I hadn't had the surgery I would have had that terrible meal at least five times already and that is proof I could not have done this in my own. My sleeve is saving me from myself and I am so grateful for that, even as I day dream about fried food.

Remember the reasons why you had surgery! Your hormones are all wonky right now - take some time to heal - both mentally and physically! Stay strong! There will be cheeseburgers in your life again (without the bun but still delicious!)

First time poster, but I found this thread very helpful before my surgery and after. It's great to connect with other people going through the same thing. I was sleeved on August 18 and am now 5 days post op.

The day of the surgery post-op was awful, due to the gas buildup. I felt like I was going to die and couldn't breathe. Each day has gotten easier and today has been the best day yet. I've been able to walk about 1.5 miles a day and am getting 100 grams of Protein in a day through Protein shakes and soups. I hope to increase that to

130-150 grams of protein soon.

After the 2 week fast and 3 days after surgery, I got to have tomato soup. I can't articulate how amazing it was. Plus, I love how full you get not eating hardly anything.

Reading these threads, it appears I'm very lucky. I have encountered issues eating anything with spices in it. It did upset my stomach. I just crossed those items off the list for now.

All in all, I am so glad I made the decision to get this done. I feel better and am so excited about all the fun things I'll be able to do now that I couldn't do before.

As an FYI, my starting weight was 415 pounds. I'm 6"3. I lost 27 pounds on the two week liquid fast. I weighed in on the day of surgery at 388 pounds and am 378 pounds as of today. It's just awesome to have already lost 37 pounds in less than 3 weeks!

It hasn't been easy, but if you follow the rules and stay strong mentally, you can do it! I keep myself motivated and excited for the future by watching before and after videos on YouTube. It is so inspiring!

I feel bad for those that are struggling just after surgery. Keep the faith and you'll make it through!

LOL, I'm grinning while reading this because you sound so much like me. I felt like I was going to die when I first woke up, too. There was a bubble trapped inside my esophagus and I woke up and said, "Uhhhh I can't breathe..." in the most whiny tone. Bleh, I never whine, but I was scared and vulnerable. Also, when I first got to have tomato soup, it was like eating a high quality steak, lmao!

My first broth was tastier than any steak I've ever tasted. Guess that's something most of us remember is our first liquid and real meal.

You can do it! I think most of us are food addicts and may not necessarily realize it. During the past 6 days of post-op (sleeved on 8/18), I have learned that I am a food addict. I started my food fast on 8/4 at 415 pounds. have lost 41 pounds (currently 374pounds) in less than 3 weeks. It hasn't been easy, but the benefits I'm already getting in both health and appearance are slowly taking the place of the comfort that food gave me. Today is the first day I really thought about cheating. The urge was very strong, but I fought it...and won! It was a big deal for me and I'm so happy that I didn't give in. Food has a power over most of, if not all of us. Personally, that makes me mad and now I have a tool to fight back! Stay strong and keep the faith. For those regretting it, give yourself a chance to become free and live the life you deserve! The happiness you get from a cheeseburger will pale in comparison to looking and feeling better about yourself. I know it's tough, but you can do it!!
