So I'm almost 2 weeks post op, and will be soon moving to the pureed stage of post op. I just bought some stuff to begin introducing pureed to my diet. I bought things like baby applesauce, baby carrots, baby meats, cottage cheese, yogurt, SF pudding to make with Cashew Milk.

What did all of you eat during this stage? Any recipes to share? Looking for a bit more variety after being liquid for 4 weeks!!!

Thanks.

I read somewhere that baby food isn't the best option but now I can't find article to read why. Anyway - try cottage cheese, hummus, Soup (no chunks), canned tuna, chicken or salmon, Beans.

I did buy cream Soups that I will strain, I have canned tuna, and I'm pretty sure I have Beans. Hummus I did not even think of for this stage! Do you just eat the hummus alone?

I wonder why baby food isn't the best option? I did look at the labels and only got ones that were lower sugar content, carb content, and calories. I figured it would be good to start introducing meats back to my diet.

I admit some baby food is yucky, but tonight I had a tablespoon of carrots and a tablespoon of vegetable beef. Mixed together it was horrible. I can't say it was outstanding, but it wasn't horrible. I've had the baby applesauce before and it is pretty good. Hey, it filled me up without using too much food.

Hi. I was/am still struggling with the puréed diet. I've just discovered if you purée tin tuna (I was told not to eat it from the can as that's considered a "soft" food) and avocado together is yummy. Also roast chook, mayo, avocado and a bit of sweet chilli sauce. That worked as well. Yogurt and any fruit with a splash of honey is a quick lunch meal. Hope that helps.

I like the tuna and avocado suggestion. That sounds delicious. What is roast chook?

My recovery did not include puréed foods because I was instructed to chew my soft foods 20-30 times to purée it in my mouth to a baby food consistency. That made transitioning to soft foods easy. Tolerable soft foods for me are low fat cottage cheese, low fat refried black Beans, Progresso chicken Alfredo Soup (chew the chicken up well before swallowing), non fat Greek yogurt, Siggi yogurt, strawberries (chewed up well), soft cheeses like Havarti, Proti oatmeal, honey smoked turkey deli meat chewed well, and of course eggs. Take it slow with introducing new foods. Good luck!

In my recovery, I was instructed to advance to soft foods after liquids and chewing 20-30 times, basically purée ing the food in your own mouth, to a baby food consistency. So foods that work well are low fat cottage cheese, low fat refried black Beans, non fat low sugar yogurt, Siggi yogurt, strawberries, soft cheeses like Havarti, Oscar Meyer honey smoked deli turkey, Proti Diet oatmeal, Progresso chicken Alfredo Soup (chew the chicken well). Shrimp has been good for me, just make sure it's not over done and tough. Any meats should be cooked in a slow cooker to make them really tender, as well as the veggies. Good luck!

I found a great recipe on Pinterest for mock lasagna... Pretty much ricotta cheese, melted Parmesan, Tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. I just bought low fat retried Beans, avocado, and sour cream to try, and a variety of masked potatoes to purée. I know they are starchy but right now it's really just about getting your pouch acclimated to more solids and after 3 small bites I'm full.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
