  1. I have to agree with the others... compare those statistics to your current risk for stroke, heart attack, and diabetes... I have 5 friends/family plus myself who have had the surgery ranging from 7 months ago to 9 years ago and we all agree it's the best decision we've ever made. 2. I think this surgery is full of feelings for sure, but I know I was a hot, hormonal mess for the first 6 weeks... Rage, tears (both happy and sad), Sexual, etc It will all settle down eventually! I read in the forums something about hormones and fat storage and how rapid weightloss can really affect your hormones until your body adjusts... *hugs* you got this! 3. I thought maybe I ate something I shouldn't... I had some tortilla chips the night before this began... Then I thought it was a "bug" since it lasted so long... It's now the end of the 4th day... I eat or drink, then shortly after I'll "go" and it's complete liquid. No blood. No weird colors. Just liquid. I'm calling my surgeon tomorrow if it continues but I thought I'd ask for incite, and maybe peace of mind, for the night... :/ Anyone experience this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Thank you! That helps a lot... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Thank you for responding Cervidae! Do you wait an hour before drinking after meals? And when you say 1-2 ounces is that weight or size? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hello beautifuls! I'm at 3 months post-op and I feel great and am so much more active than I've been in YEARS! I am slightly concerned at my occasional increase in appetite... Sometimes I can only nibble a few bites, but more frequently I've felt like I'm eating more than I should be able to... Can I pretty please have some people who are at 3 months or have recently been there tell me what their normal portion size is for meals? Measured in cups or ounces would be super helpful... Thank you! <3 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I was told by my NUT to cut back the Protein supplements when I'm meeting my protein goal with real food. So as your calories increase, as long as you're eating high protein foods, you should be able to cut them out or go to 1 a day. I'm 6 weeks out and I can usually get half of my goal (60) with food and then I add a Protein Bar and some milk or small shake. Idk if that helps... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I wasn't released from the hospital until I could drink 10 ounces of Protein drinks... There are lots of ups and downs before you feel normal... I don't think you cheated though... I've learned that as much as I am a rule follower, I also need to listen to my body... Good luck hon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm at 4 wks 3 days and I had dumping once. It was from puréed chili that was fine to eat the night before. I didn't think I had much but the doctor said I could have taken one bite too many. I'm pretty sure the dumping thing is individual for different people. You just have to eat new foods slowly so if can stop at the first sign of feeling ill. 11. I know my focus is Protein now... But I'm curious how many calories other people were getting at 1 month post op... Input is appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I found a great recipe on Pinterest for mock lasagna... Pretty much ricotta cheese, melted Parmesan, tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. I just bought low fat retried Beans, avocado, and sour cream to try, and a variety of masked potatoes to purée. I know they are starchy but right now it's really just about getting your pouch acclimated to more solids and after 3 small bites I'm full. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I went from only sleeping about 4 hours at a time now I get 6-8 if I take my pain meds right at bedtime. However, I can't usually fall asleep until 2 or 3 at night and then I either get up and lose sleep or I sleep in and get behind on the whole Fluid and Protein thing. It's such a fine balance right now but it's getting better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I went through the same thing! Two weeks out and my sleep is still off. I normally fall right asleep and now I've found I'm having a hard time settling. It's better than it was, but I definitely feel your pain. My mother is a nurse and she also attributes it to the surgery process, as you found in your search. 15. I was told baby food was fine if it was under 3 grams of sugar... I found very little that were but are a couple options! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Help! I'm 7 days post RNY... I can get fluids down okay but Premier shakes are repulsive to me now. I tried mixing them with other flavors and its doable, but then it adds volume so I barely get anything out if it. I've also tried mixing isolate lemonade with Vitamin Water lemonade... I can stand that a little but then I can't after about 6 ounces (3 ounces at a time with 3 minutes in between sips... Then I give myself a 30 minute break) I have GNC naturally unflavored Protein that I mixed with Soup, but again, the scoop is so huge that the volume is too much to get what I need... I need some reliable protein sources as I still have a week on full liquids and then 2 weeks on purée Any advice is greatly appreciated... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My doctor said the same thing... Pretty much. Nothing 3 months prior to surgery. She said invest in edibles as the smoke is bad and she has no research to indicate that the vape is safe. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm 4 days out and have had a great experience. I'm super gassy right now but other than that, things have been very smooth. Keep in mind that it's more likely for people having issues to post in forums, than it is for them to post positive experiences. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
