Not quite sure what you mean? Do your best to avoid temptation entirely. You got guts to do it so close to the holidays when temptation is it's strongest.

Being on a pre-op diet over Christmas will be tough but you can do it!

I don't know where you live or what is available and what your physical capabilities are, but here are some ideas:

Take a walk.

Take a drive to look at Christmas lights.

Our family will be celebrating over several days time. One of the things we have planned is a family talent show.

We also usually go to at least one movie around the holiday, not necessarily on the day.

You could watch Christmas movies at home.

Sing carols/go caroling.

Volunteer.

Visit someone who doesn't have family. Maybe visit a retirement home, assisted living facility, or nursing home.

Christmas Eve we usually go to a Candlelight Service at our Church.

I've never been, but someday I would like to go to midnight mass Christmas Eve. I'm not Catholic but would like the experience.

You could make a craft! One year we got snowed in at my aunts. Fortunately, we were able to get to the store ahead of the blizzard and bought bisque Santa figurines and paint. We all painted Santas and had a blast.

As for Christmas treats, get a nice Christmas flavored Decaf tea or herb tea. Mint is nice. I like Harney & Sons hot cinnamon spice (and it comes in decaf!). You could also try adding cinnamon and/or nutmeg to a vanilla Protein shake. Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel is festive and reminds me of a mock mimosa.

Ask your NUT for some suggestions, I am sure others are in the same boat.

Best of luck. Focus on the experiences with family and friends and it well help with the food.

sip, sip sip

walk, walk, walk

talk, talk talk

Always good things to do :)

Get you some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup Protein powder and enjoy a cup of Soup during the meal. Add just a pinch of chicken bouillon. It's delicious and a nice change from sweet shakes.

@InnerSurferGirl's suggestions are great!

My surgery date is also the 29!! My plan is to play games guess who, apples to apples, uno, etc. I also want to go to the movies or go to the snow!! Anything that distract from the food. I also plan to have Christmas dinner before I start my liquid diet!

My surgery is the 28th!! I'm so glad to know there are others who are determined enough to liquid diet through Christmas with me!! My plan is Unjury chicken (mentioned), some Decaf peppermint green tea "candy cane" flavor from trader joes, some orange spice tea and to just enjoy my family.

I'll be on post op liquids. I plan on doing the things we normally do - visit with family and enjoy them! I'll just be drinking my dinner. That's not what's important! Our health is!

Movies are usually open on Christmas, too!

I started my preop liquid diet on dec 4th (2013), had surgery dec 20 and continued postop liquid stage until the second week of January. During that time I attended 2 Christmas parties, a funeral, a birthday party, Christmas dinner at grandmas and a New Year's Eve party. I sipped on Protein shakes, ice Water and Soup broth through it all. Basically lived my normal life and enjoyed the company of friends and family. Eating during the holiday festivities is not mandatory. Just do what you always do, you don't need to go out of your way to make different plans just cause you are on a liquid diet.

Although I did go "festive" with my Protein Shakes....added gingerbread Torani Syrup to my Syntrax vanilla and it was yummy. I also made eggnog Protein Shakes. Do a search on here, pretty sure that's where I got the recipe from.

This is where you start to relearn skills. There are more things to do on the holiday;s that are no food related than your think. Movies are open, if you live somewhere you can walk around and look at the lights and displays do that. Where I live there are some nice hiking trails. Some of them are very easy and flat. A midnight walk is almost magical in the winter. If you are active, the ski lodges are open and much less crowded than normal. If you don't ski, snuggle in the lodge. Just bring your Water and sip, sip, sip.

If you feel like you must eat as a family China town is almost always open. You can order miso Soup, egg drop Soup or won ton soup. Just pass the chunky bits to the family.

Personally I like Syntrax nectar, Syntrax Matrix, Premier Protein, Body Fortress, Spirutein, Raw Protein, Raw Fit, Syntha 6, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, Muscle Milk, Chike and Quest.

I did not like Isopure, Jay Robb, Pantry Selections, Bariatric Advantage, Bariatric fusion, Optimum Nutrition, Celebrate or Protizyme.

There are dozens of brands and flavors out there that range from "make me gag" to "love it I could drink it everyday" (which I do). But everyone's tastes are different so you should get samples and try them out yourself. A lot of whole food stores will have single servings, Nashua Nutrition offers sample sizes and you can get variety packs of some on Amazon or from the manufacturers.

The other thing I do is add Torani syrups and fresh fruit to offer even more variety. It's kinda fun inventing new flavor combinations and at 2 years out I still never get bored with the shakes.

@@Kindle is right. Taste is subjective. I love Isopure. I use the unflavored powder & the clear drink teas. Hated Premier Protein, EASI also like Orgain, Biochem vegan. Cvs brand and ProSource NoCarb. I added fresh fruit, almond butter, spinach fresh or frozen, Fage 0% Greek yogurt to my shakes for variety.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
