Hey everyone. I am two weeks out today and lost almost 15 lbs the first week. I'm up 1 lb this week which from what I've heard is normal. I'm starting Purée and the new tummy seems to be handling it okay. But I still have this horrible "Head Hunger". I think about food and want to eat almost all the time and it's hard to distinguish when I'm really hungry and when it's just in my head. I have a husband who is thin and eats a lot of junk food so it's around the house. I'm more into savory and not sweets. I've thought of trying out Overeaters Anonymous but there are no convienient times or places. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to deal with the head hunger and cravings for food we aren't supposed to eat? I really want my pouch to work and do my best. Love to all.

The 'head hunger' you're experiencing is perfectly normal (in my experience)...

I'm not sure what others did but I just suffered thru them and they end up going away...

I still get cravings, but I think that's different from the 'head hunger'...

Of course, others may have different strategies or opinions, but I really did find that this passes (or you just get used to it).

Maybe you just come here and vent when you think you're gonna crack...

There's a whole lot of support in here just waiting to be given...

Take care...

Kinda...

I really struggled with this. It felt like I deprived myself of food from the pre-surgery diet and the Fluid stages, by the time I could have real food it was all I could think about. I'm 7 weeks out and I still struggle with this! My best advice is to stay busy all day and you won't think about food as much. And when you think about food try getting something to drink, then maybe waiting 30 minutes and if you're still "hungry" having something small!

@Rebeccaabrooks86 Ohhhhhhh gotta love that brain of ours ! UGH!

Seems it always wants to work against us when we're trying to do the right thing and get healthy ...

My best advice for head hunger is ( like others have posted ) .... KEEP BUSY ... do your walking ... do your sipping ... do some online window shopping .. better yet ... walk around the mall ... read a magazine getting ideas for the new outfits you're going to wear and look hot in !

It does go away as your body goes through it's major changes and gets used to the new you you're working to create .... I promise ...

You will get through it ... we all do ... and coming out the other side ... is magnificent !

Best of luck and love!

:)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
