    After Surgery

Hey! I'm in college as well. I had surgery September 3rd and was back in school is the 8th! I felt great, I was run down sure, but overall I felt great. My mom stayed with me and drove me to class which was super helpful! No visible signs I had surgery though

    Head Hunger

I really struggled with this. It felt like I deprived myself of food from the pre-surgery diet and the fluid stages, by the time I could have real food it was all I could think about. I'm 7 weeks out and I still struggle with this! My best advice is to stay busy all day and you won't think about food as much. And when you think about food try getting something to drink, then maybe waiting 30 minutes and if you're still "hungry" having something small!
  3. Hello my name's Olivia! I'm 19 and currently in college! I initially downloaded this app to read everyone's weight-loss journey, but after reading them I decided to contribute and share mine! I have struggled with my weight all my life, and having type one diabetes (very different than type two) makes losing weight a challenge! I have my consultation appointment next Monday, and boy I am so excited! I am hoping to get the gastric sleeve early May and begin my weight loss journey! Just looking for people to talk to or to hear other people's stories! ☺️
  4. Well I'm looking for advise from someone who started this process with a slightly lower bmi. Yes, I know everyones weight loss is different. However if someone could chime in and tell me if this is normal or not, much appreciated. I'm coming up on 7 weeks post op and I've lost 15 pounds. Most which was in the first two weeks out. I know that stalls happen, but I think I've honestly been stalling for about 4/5 weeks now. My starting weight was 208 and I'm 5'5. I log all my food and I get more than enough protein every day (I use gene pro protein powder) any advice?
  5. Thanks for responding guys! Sometimes you know the answer to your question but you still need to ask it anyways... Thanks for the reassurance! And awesome chart @@LoseItKacy that really puts it in perspective for me!
  6. Thank you everyone!! I'm usually at no more than 1,000 calories every day. I looked back and myfitness pal and I'm starting to think maybe my problem lies within carbs. It's all healthy carbs (quinoa, fruit, oatmeal) but I'm going to try and cut back on them. My exercise routine is no where close to what it should be. But I walk to all my classes and I usually do cardio 2 sometimes 3 times a week!
  7. I feel amazing honestly! A little frustrated that I'm at a stall and have been for a week or two but what can you do?? My biggest regret was listening to the people post about how miserable they would be after surgery.. I automatically thought "well if they were miserable I'm probably going to be miserable". No way! Of course you're sore for a week or so and need help standing up here and there but for the most part it was not nearly what it was cracked up to be. A week out I was attending my college classes and just taking naps in the afternoon! Within two weeks I felt back to my normal self, even better when I stepped on the scale and saw how much weight I lost! The hardest part for me was by the end of my liquid diet I was so ready for some real food! But of course time flew by and you'll be fine! Good luck to you!!

    Pre-op weightloss

I think it really does depend on insurance but for the most part if you drop below your qualifying BMI you may be denied. I have united and they required 6 months of counseling so by the end of my 6 months I was taking my purse and shoes and keys on the scale lol. Good luck to you!
  11. Good luck with your surgery!
