My surgery was Oct 8th and I'm on clear liquids for the first week, then I introduce protein shakes. I also started to have diarrhea today, and a lot of gurgling coming from my stomach, which is normal. Your stomach is still raw and all cut up. It needs some time to heal. Every surgeon is different tho.... I'd call and ask questions, but do NOT stop drinking water, because you don't want to get dehydrated!!

My surgery was 9/30. I also had very lose stool in the beginning. Probably will for a while - liquid in, liquid out.

I focused on liquids until day 5 because I couldn't tolerate the thick protein shakes. I did enjoy syntax unflavored protein in a warm cup of chicken or beef bullion cubes. The salty taste just sat better on my stomach than the sweet. I started protein shakes after day 5.

FYI - don't discount the loose stools. Trust me, with the high amounts of Protein we're required to take in, if you don't drink your Water and take your stool softner/miralax you will live to regret it! High protein diets = concrete poo which in turn = OUCH!!!

My surgery was Oct 7th too. I'm having a hard time getting all my water in. Last night I started to feel a burning feeling in my stomach and I have yet to have a bm. Hope this is normal...

@@sarahbethemails I have my ups and downs with my energy levels. Some days are better than others. I'm hoping I will get answers at my post op on Thursday.

I'm 5 weeks out and I still can't tolerate cold water on my stomach. Bump up your stool softeners! When I noticed I went a day without I would bump from 2 a day to 3 until I was able to go. Trust me you don't want to wait longer than two days to go. I was habitually constipated before surgery. Now so long as I stick to my 2 a day I'm usually ok.
