I am 5 days post op. I started having the runs yesterday. I am on Clear liquids. Is this normal? I see my surgeon tomorrow.

I didn't really have them until after the barium swallow/gastrografin test. It's take a few days to go away - today looks to be more promising (less toilet time anyway).

I had that, and then with full liquids it switched IMMEDIATELY to the opposite problem now I'm wishing I had the runs back.

I had that as well right after surgery. They told me to take Colace each day post surgery so as soon as I started with the loose bowel movements, I quit taking it and that solved it for me.

I am 5days out too and same problem. Not too worried though doctor just said to keep my fluids up.

I sure hope so cause I'm having the same problem. 5 days out, full liquids.

On my post-op paperwork from the hospital it said if I had diarrhea to call the surgeon immediately as it was not something that should be happening.

See i called my surgeon and he flat out said, you're on a clear liquid diet so there will be no solids til you have more than just broth and water. I got the same advice from the hospital but surgeon was like heh no.
