New here!

Hey everyone! I am new on here, just wanting to introduce myself. My name is sandy, I'm 27 years old, and either going to have the vsg or bypass. My first surgeon appointment is Tuesday June 30!! Nervous and excited. I've given up soda and other carbonated drinks, and still battling giving up smoking. I just need to do it! Also have been doing my best to eat 3 balanced meals and snacks only if I'm hungry in between. Anyone on here at or around my same stage?

Hi Sandy! I am about the same stage! I have been doing the 3 meals and LOTS of water, haven't given up smoking yet either. I am trying to take baby steps in this whole thing. There are so many changes

I'm undivided between the sleeve and bypass. How are you making your decision?

Hi casper, I am still doing my own research about both and going to go over both in detail with the surgeon Tuesday and come to a conclusion then. I want to do what is best for me. I have a lot of comorbidities so the bypass might be better. Hmm I just don't know lol

When I saw my doctor for the first time we talked about what surgery would work best for the weight I needed to lose. I had the sleeve done. I am a month post-op and I have no regrets it second questions about my choice. It took me a long time to cut out the soda so great job on that! Definitely a necessity! Good luck with your appointment!

I'm 29 waiting for a date for surgery. I do three small meals a tons if water I stopped all soda and have been smoke free for three weeks now. I'm down 15lbs since I started too. So far so good just wish I could get a date but I go see the surgeon on Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed! Feel free to pm me as well.. I could use a friend that's around the same as me to go on the journey with :)

Good job crystal!! Sounds like you have completed your bariatric program. . Just waiting on a date?

Pretty much.. It's driving me crazy!! Lol

I'm old enough to be your mother but I'm hoping to have an appointment with the surgeon sometime soon. I go for my psych evaluation next week. That's the last thing I need to do to complete the paperwork so I'm hoping it won't be long after that. I can't have surgery until October though. I won't have my portion of the money until my medical flex spending account renews for the year.

I'm excited. Starting July 1, I'm going to try to give up soft drinks and start trying different Protein drinks. Pre-op diet is my biggest fear. I do not like Protein Drinks.....too chalky! If anyone knows of a good one, please share!!

By the way--you can quit smoking!! I've done it twice. Although I still have cravings for cigarettes, I just try to focus on something else during that short burst of craving. Good luck!!

God luck tomorrow and hopping for the best and don't forget go walk walk

I had my surgery on June 16th - I'm 14 days post op - if anybody advice I'm here!

Hello I'm new here as well! I am 32 from Ohio and just submitted my application today 7-1-15. I look forward to my sleeve journey as well!

sandylynn88, I am 28, but started this when I was 26. I had a long hard battle with my insurance and initial surgeon of choice's office. I am now private pay and have a surgery date of 7/9. I too was a smoker. I have since switched to an electronic cigarette and have weened myself off nicotine(currently on just flavored vapor). Now for the eating in between what is allowed, make sure you are choosing healthy foods. Stock up on veggies! They give you the satisfaction of the munch and crunch of chips. I also turned to Dannon Fit and Lite greek yogurts for the desert flavors (let's be honest, their strawberry cheesecake and toasted coconut vanilla are amazing!). Small changes will give you big results! Take this one day and one step at a time! Best of luck to ya!
