May 23, 201511 yr Anyone have trouble with getting to sleep after surgery? I'm about 3 1/2 weeks out and I'm having a hard time getting to sleep, just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue?
May 23, 201511 yr I can't sleep at night without melatonin and Benadryl. 50mg Benadryl and two Melatonin tabs and it knocks me out quite nicely.
May 24, 201511 yr I'm 6 days post op and have noticed some problems with insomnia. I wondered if it's because I'm hungry but can't actually feel Hungry if that makes any sense. Lol
May 24, 201511 yr I'm 2 months today post op and i thought it was just me but I guess I'm not alone my doctor gave me trazadone to help me sleep
May 24, 201511 yr I had a really hard time sleeping after surgery as well. I don't sleep as long. I up earlier. But now I'm sleeping better.
May 25, 201511 yr I had/have the same issue. I was sleeved on 4/8. I feel like it's slowly getting better though ????
May 25, 201511 yr Author Thanks everyone! Kind of comforting to know its not just me! I'll have to get my hands on some melatonin
May 26, 201511 yr Oh well, at least I'm not alone either. I am only averaging 4 hours a night since surgery. I can't seem to get rest from my midday naps either. I walk over an hour a day still have plenty of energy at night. sleeping pills not working. Doesn't seem like anxiety either. I feel wired all the time, but my bad knees limit me from walking more in an attempt to burn off energy. Rowing for 30 plus minutes a day at 160 heart rate is not doing it for me either. Bicycling is a chore due to my knees as well. So if someone finds something that works for them, please post. Thank you.
May 26, 201511 yr I have life-long insomnia and can't go to sleep unless I take something. I used to feel horrible about that fact but I stopped worrying....we need our rest and it's better to get sleep with the help of a doctor and a little pharmaceutical than to not sleep and be a curmudgeon in the morning. And when I don't sleep...oh boy am I a curmudgeon. ????????????
May 26, 201511 yr I have been fighting insomnia off and on for about the past ten years. I think mine is stress and menopause. I also think my sleep is affected by the cycle of the moon. Don't laugh - I have noticed if the moon is close to full or full I am lucky to sleep a couple of hours... I haven't had much luck with melatonin. Nyquil does the trick but I don't like relying on it for sleep and if I take it I NEED sleep about 8hrs or I am not productive.
May 26, 201511 yr Zzzquil is the only thing it has helped me even the sleeping pill doesn't help at times :/
May 26, 201511 yr Zzzquil is the only thing it has helped me even the sleeping pill doesn't help at times :/Zzzquil is just a money-making Benadryl. My pharmacist let me in on that secret a long time ago. $8.00 for a bottle of Zzzquil vs $.88 for a bottle of generic Benadryl. Look at the ingredients. Thought I'd help a fellow WLS friend!!
