  • Popular Post

I don't know if any of you have ever dealt with this kind of thing before but....I have a couple ...well i was going to say friends but they aren't really friends...women I know...that make complimnents to me but the way they say them to me i don't really think they mean them as compliments and when they say them they look at ewach other with this look on their faces like you know they are being bitches about it. I am so over this BS. I really want to knock the hell out of them and walk away smiling to myself....buuuttttt it is at work and i can't afford to be unemployed. Help me deal with this drama folks - I'm really about to lose my shit over here.....

"Don't you look skinny today" (look at each other)

"You have lost so much weight i bet your husband just LOVES your new body" (wink wink) (looks at each other all ugly)

"so be honest don't you feel better now that you aren't so fat?" (for real....sigh...just said to me 15 minutes ago...i am reallly trying not bitchslap a ho right now)

"So now that you lost all that weight are you going to start getting pedicures?" (like i was afraid to get my feet done before WTF????)

"I have a friend and she would love to talk to you about losing weight can i give her your number - oh wait you had surgery...nvermind..."

and on and on....I asked one of them this morning if she was serious and she said yes...don't you like talking about your success? i told her i felt like they were not being sincere and she said but you know we are your friends and we love you...(gag) so anyway - I needed to vent before i killed someone and you all so me on yahoo or something...but really the nerve of people...why do they feel so free to say that kind of stuff to me?? ANd for the record i am not that friendly......hahahahaha

Consider the sources. Bitter unhappy people I bet. Hold your head up and ignore them, no response at all. Just ignore, they will get the point

Here is my personal favorite- "you better slow down , you are going to be skinnier than ME!" As if my weight loss had anything at all to do with her! Classic narcissist

I feel your pain. I'm only 6 days post op and told NOBODY except my sister because I don't want to deal with ppl's ignorance, questions, and unsolicited comments. This is your personal journey and yours only. It is simply nobody else's business or place to make such comments. I have had many many comments / questions posed to me about my weight prior to surgery. I simply answered with " my weight is not something you should not concern yourself with". That puts ppl I'm a uncomfortable position and they will not comment again. The questions and comments that have been posed to me have been absurd, insensitive, nervy, and ignorant to say the least. Took all I had to deliver my message with eloquence and not hostility and not want to slap the dumb bitches and assholes!

Sounds like grounds for a 'hostile workplace' lawsuit :)

People that insult other people for losing weight with surgery don't know what it's like to have some kind of a disease that that overpowers them they don't understand how anybody can be as big as we are. Just laugh at them all the way to the gym. Be proud you have the guts to stand up and do something about your health. what are they doing for themselves? nothing. they're trying to feel better by making fun of you. know you're better off than they are.

My answer to that, after looking said person up and down.... "no, I think I already am...."

This is the exact reason I have not. and will not tell anyone that I had WLS. I am not embarrassed at all, I actually proud that I made a decision to improve my life. I just hate the ignorance of people. I mean if I were an alcoholic and went to treatment, do you think people would be rude about it? No they would be supportive. Same isn't true for weight related issues and addictions to food. It's sad. I rather keep people guessing "what's she doing to look so fab"....really keep the gossip wheel turning.

You're nicer than me. I would have to reply with something like "yes, i have lost a lot of weight. Do you want the number of my surgeon?" or "I feel so much better since my surgery. Maybe you should consider plastic surgery. It can't be fun walking around looking like a Halloween mask all the time." or something just as tacky and uncouth. LOL

Don't give STUPID PEOPLE the power to make you miserable!
