Getting Water In Tips Needed

I am about 2 weeks post op and still really struggling to drink enough Water. I had a hernia repair during my surgery and my doc said that would probably contribute to the additional slow down in drinking and eating.

I feel like I am sipping all day but probably only taking in like 30 fl oz max. Any suggestions or tips to help?

Thanks!

Just keep sipping you are doing what you are suppose to. Remeber your stomach is new and well not hold alot it will adjust as time goes on. Just make sure dont eat and drink together.

Just do as much as you can. It was a good while before I was getting my 64+ ounces a day. A couple of things you can try is to experiment with Water at different temperatures is easier or harder for you to drink. I found VERY cold water or warm drinks (tea, broth) easiest for me to drink. Some people can't handle cold water at all and prefer it closer to room temperature.

Another thing you can do is try to flavor your water by adding some milo, crystal light, etc. Or even mixing in some fruit juice. I was allowed a 50/50 juice/water in the early days post-op, but encouraged to discontinue that shortly thereafter, since they don't want us drinking our calories long term.

I had my surgery last March and still struggle with getting all my water in. I found H9 water about a month ago and 1 bottle gives you the hydration of 64 oz in a day. And this might be too much information but after my surgery I had trouble with constipation and this water has relieved that as well. Check it out. Www.h9water.com/1bottle

I make sure my fluids count! I use Isopure, mixed with Crystal Light, or Powerade Zero. 10oz Isopure=20g protein, and 10oz fluid..add the powerade/crystal light, and I am getting 20 oz fluid, and 20 g protein. I also flavor some of my water, I have found that I really like Powerade Zero drops. They taste good. Crystal Light is good too. Just keep sipping all day long. You can do it. I am on day 5, and I just make sure I have fluids, or a protein drink, sometimes both, with me at all times.
