  1. I was hoping I would be one of those luckily people that never had a gain but I am three months out and I noticed this week I gained three pounds... Super bummed to say the least. I am hoping and praying it's just water weight because I've been doing five miles a day and eating well. Maybe just looking at all the sweet treats my family eats they have gotten into my stomach by osmosis, jk.
  2. I am taking a chewable multivitamin that my doc recommended: Bariatric Advantage Innovations Advanced Multi EA, it's got extra iron in it and really easy to get down post surgery for me at least. In addition to that I'm taking some additional calcium chewys that are a yummy caramel flavor and then a lil biotin.
  3. I am about 2 weeks post op and still really struggling to drink enough Water. I had a hernia repair during my surgery and my doc said that would probably contribute to the additional slow down in drinking and eating. I feel like I am sipping all day but probably only taking in like 30 fl oz max. Any suggestions or tips to help? Thanks!
  4. Sleeve surgery was yesterday, big breaths hurt but that's about it, and that may have been due to the hernia that was found on my diaphragm during surgery. Felt really sleepy the first half of the day but by the afternoon I had already cruised through the hospital halls several times. Thanks to the IVs hooked up to both arms I've been peeing like a race horse. Day two: Feeling good munching on ice. The barium swallow test was as disgusting as everyone says, the only thing I can equate it to is a really cheap vodka and rotten OJ screwdriver. Gas pains seem to be limited to my left shoulder and back. Hubby back rubs are a life saver. If you are trapped in the hospital alone I recommend kidnapping a nurse and making her rub your back. It's literally like burping a baby and feels soo good. ????
  5. I found a powder I really liked at gnc called Royal Sport Ultra Clean. It comes in some great flavors too ice cream sandwich.

    30 something...

I'm 30 and a mother of twin 2 year old girls. My surgery is February 11th (just 10 more days) in San Antonio w/Dr Gonzales. I work full time and don't know how my kids are going to handle not being able to crawl all over me. Doing diaper changes with a kicking a screaming kid is a daily occurrence, so wish me luck. My mother-in-law is going to spend the first 3-4 days with us helping out but then I'm on my own.
  7. My first consultation was 1/3/15 and my surgery date is 2/11/15... Much faster than I had anticipated. Total cost $14k includes the preop costs thru one yr postop.

    San Antonio Area!
  9. I feel your pain. I'm a Feb 11th sleever too. I've already started modifying my shakes this week adding a lil decaf instant coffee in for flavor just to help get through the work day.
  10. I'm scheduled for Feb 11th in Texas CW: 230 GW: 145 This surgery is better than any box of chocolates I could ever imagine getting for Valentine's Day and I just can't wait to start my journey. ????
  11. I've never tried it, is it gross? Because to be honest it doesn't sound too appetizing. I picked up few small bone broth cartons from my grocery store trying to prep for post surgery. I was shocked at how much protein was in them and it was nice they came in combinations like chicken and lemongrass etc.... What's your impression of these? Good, bad, gross, or just slightly overpriced broth?

    Bone broth

Sounds awesome Eli.... This place wouldn't happen to be in the Austin or San Antonio Texas area by chance would it?

    Bone broth

That cracked me up red. Your response totally makes since that it's basically just a new marketing term... I used to make broth at home with my mom as a kid I just never heard it called bone broth or put two and two together I suppose. Thanks!
  14. A friend of mine whom had a gastric bypass surgery 8 years ago totally got into my head today. She knows I am scheduled for surgery in February. She said today that still even 8 years after her surgery every bite she takes hurt her to swallow and feels almost like a heart attack. I don't know her complete surgical backstory or if she has had additional complications, but in your opinion is this normal? I would expect the pain as your healing and getting accustomed to your new digestive system, knowing how much to chew or what and when, but REALLY? Every bite even 8 years later.... Am I ready for this type of chronic pain? Being able to get sleeved is such a blessing and I know it's going to require great sacrifice but I feel like right now I need a reminder that it'll be worth it.
  15. I'm so glad I found this forum you guys and gals are amazing.
  16. Well I am very excited to announce I got my date yesterday. February 11th I am so excited, one thing that I think I overlooked in all the excitement was the birth control restriction. The notice my dr sent via email today said no normal birth control 2 weeks prior to operation. Well if I was on the pill that wouldn't be a problem.... However I have a Mirena IUD. I haven't been able to reach my docs office today regarding the matter but I'm really curious if it really matters? Mirena is a hormonal form of birth control but it is a relatively low dose from what I know. I really hope I don't have to try and squeeze in an additional appointment to my OB to have it removed (especially after just a year and a half ago I had to pay $1k for it). Please help, has anyone else had similar issues?
  17. Just wanted to update yall that after speaking with my doctor he recommended that we not remove my Mirena birth control.
  18. For those of you who have been sleeved I am curious how you guys and gals handle getting sick? This year I got a horrible cold and have had a lot of bad allergies and migraines which were probably related. So often I know I take NSAIDS to help get through and that's going to have to change in the near future once I'm scheduled for surgery. I would love to know some tips and tricks y'all probably have related to being sick post-op. Is it harder? Easier? Or all the same? (I remember being pregnant with my twins and not able to take anything and I was fairly miserable for all 9 months)
  19. Thanks that helps, I will try to stock up a lil before my surgery and keep an eye out for the mucinex too
