I don't mean for this to sound like a dumb question but I have nothing to compare the sleeve surgery recovery too.

If I had the surgery and was out of work for a week, and then had a second week off -- would I have any strength or ability to go on a family vacation during that second week?

I don't have a ton of paid time off and we already have a vacation scheduled in the early summer.

Just wondering if this was feasible at all.

It really depends on the person and how well the surgery goes. Many people report they were up and moving immediately after surgery.

I wasn't up to walking more than a few minutes at at time for the 1st 2 weeks. The 3rd week was much better, but I didn't have a lot of energy.

How active do you expect to be during the family vacation? Do you plan on a lot of sitting or is it going to be a very active vacation?

I am entering my second week tomorrow and I can tell you I would not be up for a vacation. Why? Because my calorie intake is about 200-450 a day. My drainage hole still hurts although it is healing and itchy. After 30 mins of walking I need to sit. I tend to get dizzy because I am wasting more energy and not replacing it fast enough food wise.

But.... everyone is different. Just something to think about. If you do plan a vacation, maybe something that won't wear out your body since it is still healing and recovering. ;)

I had my surgery on Friday (Jan 16th) and came home last night. I used the pain medication till about 11:30 Friday night only 30 mg (Which isn't much at all). Saturday after my swallow test I was given one pain pill at 12 and then didn't take another one until I was going to sleep at 9:30 or so. Today I have taken one pain pill at noon, the pain is more cramps like then a Sharpe or stabbing pain. I been up and walking around and have some discomfort once that happens I sit back down and take it easy.

I personal do not think I would take a vacation the second week. Your body is still recovering and getting use to the New life style. I will keep you posted over the next week to see how I feel.

This is what I assumed and this is what I believe the most likely scenario would be. It was just an idea but figured it would be a poor idea.

I took a two week vacation too, I wanted to do more things with my time since I don't get much time off but I was simply relaxing. I did visit friends at night and playing board games, and walked around the block, but any more and I was exhausted. Im much better now. Do what you can according to how you feel, but don't push it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
