Waking Up At 2 Am, Ketosis?

This is happening to me more often than before the surgery. Before that would happen to me if sleep too much during the day and couldn't sleep at night. But after the surgery, I wake up restless a lot more often. I take a pill to fall asleep but it is only to fall asleep, if I wake up during the night I have trouble going back to see. I often think that restlessness comes from not being active enough during the day.

4 weeks out /not feeling full

See this scares me, Ive been feeling overwhelmed for quite a bit for the same reason. Im only three weeks out. I haven't had pain or vomiting or nothing. Im healed on the outside, but I just want a peek inside to see what the heck it going on. Sometimes, I eat 4-5 oz until feeling full. I get my Protein in and Water and I eat small amounts often. But I still don't feel the restriction. I only get the overfull feeling or when I drink and I feel that food is stuck in my esophagus-then I stop. I wish I had a more restricted feeling. Only meats get me there faster, maybe its the soft foods.

    What's really going on here

My doctor said to get in a Protein drink in a day to make sure you hit your protein marks. It might be hard to get it all by food from the beginning.

    healing up

I took a two week vacation too, I wanted to do more things with my time since I don't get much time off but I was simply relaxing. I did visit friends at night and playing board games, and walked around the block, but any more and I was exhausted. Im much better now. Do what you can according to how you feel, but don't push it.

    May 2015 Sleevers?

I am scheduled for MAY 11th and I am really excited, I've waiting a whole year, new year, new insurance that covers fully. I have been on the liquid diet since april 9th, surgeon wanted my liver nice and small before surgery. Considering I'm one of the heavier of the heavy people, it makes sense.

    May 12

Me too. I just got my date of May 11th......wish you well!
  12. First of all, congratulations on the weight loss!!! When I first met the bariatric doctor she advised and took note on all problems with my skin, chaffing, burning, infections....if anything problematic happened after the surgery it would be documented so I can get a higher chance of being cover for plastic surgery. I would suggest going to the medical doctor and see if she/he could write a letter of recommendation to submit to the insurance to get it covered. Be sure to state to the doctor all the problems you are having with your skin, it could possibly lead to infection, which is why it would be medically necessary.
  13. After a full year, I got a date and I am ready to go.

      Way to go!

  14. The journey has been smooth until now. I get my insurance through my employer, professional benefit administrators (PBA). My medical insurance with them in through Cigna. Now I got pre approval and went through six months diet requirement. Doctor submitted insurance and today I get the call that sleeve was denied that I only and covered for gastric bypass. Now I have been dealing with the which one I want and decided for my lifestyles and my needs that sleeve will do much better. I don't want to give up even though insurance is saying there is no loop hole. If I appeal that could be another 30-90 days!!. Cigna approves sleeve but PBA (my actual insurance) does not cover sleeve. I need to know what else can I do other than resubmit for bypass. Do I need a doctor approval for sleeve. Is there a loophole any where. I don't want to wait to do an appeal but if I have to I will. But I want the appeal to work. no more waiting. I need the sleeve and I hope there is a way. Help.
  15. Jersrose43 no husband, no money to pay cash. I can't seem to find an insurance plan. I just dont know. Im so disappointed that i might have to do bypass and ill die.

    Insurance & WLS ....

which individual policy did you go through? I mean which company did you chose that covered the surgery?
  17. Jersrose43 i called pba and they said its a benefit exclusion, and they weren't very helpful on answering my questions. What does benefit exclusion mean? They kept on mentioning that the billing code for the surgery was 43775. I saw on on ObesityCoverage.com this We’re happy to announce that the new CPT (billing code) for gastric sleeve procedures is 43846 and we hope that your insurance company will cover gastric sleeve surgery soon. Can I resubmit for that different code and possibly get a different answer?

    Psych evaluation

The psych evaul is a very good thing. Don't be worried if its a pass or fail. The top thing is to be honest, if your not honest your not going to get the best care needed. I am bipolar and it was as must for me to be in stable mental condition. I have been in a very stable state for years now. The psychologist work with my physciarist, whom said mental I was prepared. If your not knowledgable the psychologist will recommend some video, or therapy in addition to you regularly scheduled meeting with the nut and doctor and who ever else. They want to make sure you have the mental strength/knowledge to succeed and thats probably why you need the eval. If you don't feel comfortable ask for someone else if possible. Its always better to be honest with someone you feel like talking to.
  19. As you lose weight promote new skin to grow, exfoliating and massaging. As BKLYNgal87 has said, depends on weight, and genetics. strength training can help. Also as I read through out these blog wait for as least two years, thats when the weight loss should stabilize and to give your skin the chances to bounce back, but realize not all broken skin can bounce back.

    Pre op liquid hell

I haven't started my two month pre-op (I am 2 months away). My Nut had my start with two liquid days per week from now till pre-op liquids. Liquid days are hard for me too though. Does any one know of good sub-foods? Like my Nut said eat two popiscles and one Jello on liquid days. But I just realized why I hate Jell-o too sweet and weird constancy. Popsicles are too cold in this radical winter weather we have been have in Chicago. Can I have sugar free hard candies? Maye chicken broth?

    Just a few more weeks

How far along are you on your journey, did you have a six month requirement for surgery? I am fourth months in a six month program and I have loss at least 20lbs and several inches. Today I had a meeting today for work in the tiny auditorium. Little chair and I used to not even be able to fit fully in the chair...couldn't sit all the way back. Well, this morning I was able to squeeze in and fit. It was tight but I fit! Its little victories like that, that help you keep on going. I haven't gotten the surgery yet, but im very anixous. Don't think about you changign dramatically, just think on the little person inside who will slowly come out of her shell. Have a good grasp on who you are mentally, and positivity will come easier.

    Newbie saying hello!

Me too....Im thinking its going to be the being of April for me. I can't wait. Though I only have to do the 2-weeks liquid diet just before, my Nutritionist said to start getting in a day or two per week for just liquids. Today is my first day trying....its tough. Kiara5244 I hope you find support and glad you are on this site.
  23. I got my music degree in Vocal Performance, unfortunately that time was really hard for me as gaining weight affected my singing in a bad way. Couldn't stand as long, sweating on stage, less control over my voice. Although I haven't had the surgery yet, being a performer most of my life I found at that at my fittest I could sing the best. A lot of it has to do with your diaphragm. Learning to sing using that controls the balloons ( lungs) expand and contract. My recommendation since I have had my tonsils, adnodes, removed from me. Don't start to sing right away. Once you get out of surgery work on your breathing excersizes. The better breathing the more control you will have over your voice. If your throat hurts don't sing, and talk lightly and quiet...don't strain. As your throat starts feeling better you can sing more and more. But utimately I think sleeve, and losing weight period is good for singing.
  24. It's not okay to have family support. Well they are the closest one to you, but that doesn't mean that you don't have any support. Thats what this website is for. My family isn't the most supportive. Support groups with the hostipal your using to get your surgery at. I found out, I value support more from people like me. Maybe in the end they will support you, but don't count on it. Sometimes the lack of support comes from the lack of understanding. I try to educate my mother as much as I can so she can at least get a look into my world. But my father could care less..."why can't you just excerise". I don't bother to comment to those questions. Its not worth it to get worked up over that. You chose your route, can't change the past, but only move forward. Develop coping skills to deal with them and rememeber support can come from anyone. You can do it!
