African American vsgers!

  • Popular Post

Hey guys I saw a thread from 2011 that I wanted to continue. I love all of my vsgers but as we know african american women tend to carry weight differently. I would love to follow you ladies on your journey and for us all to support each other.

I was sleeved on September 5th so I'm a week out. I'm doing good so far and feeling better everyday. I stayed at the hospital 3 days mostly because they discovered my allergy to morphine while I was on the pump with a fever and my entire body on fire. But I'm home now and much better. I was just moved to the full liquids stage so I'm pretty happy considering that the liquids stage made me nauseous. I've lost 24 lbs since my surgery so any pain I have is over shadowed by my joy.

Looking forward to hearing from you ladies and seeing some progress pics!

I am 4 months out from surgery. I didn't have a hernia repair so my discomfort was minimal, mainly just gas pain for a couple of days. I also had a hard time meeting my water and protein goals for a few weeks but my doctor said it was to be expected and soon after I was able to get more in as I healed. Good luck to everyone!

Hello! I just got sleeved on 10/9/15, exactly one year after my wife :D. I had a hiatal hernia repair, though. I was starting to think the pain I was experiencing was abnormal, but after scrolling, I see it's not. <_< Ahhhh! I have noticed that it is decreasing in pain and frequency so I will take everyone's word that it will go away at some point.

So, this is my sixth day out of surgery and fourth day home. I'm having trouble meeting my Fluid and Protein intake. I can get in about 45 oz of fluids which is broken up between 1 premade shake, flavored water and about 1/2 cup of Soup. That's a far cry from my physician's goal of 64 oz of fluids and 60 grams of protein. Where are you guys with your intake or can you recall what it was around this time after surgery?

I think it took me a good 2 weeks to hit 60gms protein & 64ounce fluids. Just keep trying to do better each day.

The gas pain comes later :( Keep walking though :)

I never had any gas pain. If she's not experiencing any, it may not happen to her. Not everyone gets it.

Stay the course! I am ten days post up and have ony achieved 64 oz fluids twice. I cant seem to get 64 oz of fluids AND 60 gms of protein on the same day so I try to get the 60 of protein and 48 oz fluids.

I never had gas pain as well. It's different for every patient.

Hello guys!! Just got my clearance to see the surgeon to schedule my surgery! Hoping for mid November from what my doctor says...lots of great info here, glad to see everyone doing well and staying encouraged!

Just wanted to say I finally reached 100 pounds lost today! I was sleeved on 10/7/14. Didn't happen by my surgiversary as I hoped but that was definitely due to me. Just happy to finally have hit this goal and now on to the next.

Good luck to everyone starting their journey! It's not easy and not fun but it will be so worth it.
