African American vsgers!

  • Popular Post

Hey guys I saw a thread from 2011 that I wanted to continue. I love all of my vsgers but as we know african american women tend to carry weight differently. I would love to follow you ladies on your journey and for us all to support each other.

I was sleeved on September 5th so I'm a week out. I'm doing good so far and feeling better everyday. I stayed at the hospital 3 days mostly because they discovered my allergy to morphine while I was on the pump with a fever and my entire body on fire. But I'm home now and much better. I was just moved to the full liquids stage so I'm pretty happy considering that the liquids stage made me nauseous. I've lost 24 lbs since my surgery so any pain I have is over shadowed by my joy.

Looking forward to hearing from you ladies and seeing some progress pics!

Hi Kelew39 I think we should, our dates are close to each other and also the distance, im in Houston TX

I'll try to figure out how to send a friend request on this app. Lol

Hi everyone! I am in a weightloss study through my insurance and received my surgery approval on Friday. My next step is to meet with my doctor and then set my surgery date which has to be done by October 12th. I'm excited, anxious and ready to start new. It's a pleasure to meet you all!

I was sleeved on August 5th, but had a minor complication that kept me hospitalized for 10 days. I am still not tolerating the diet very well, but on a positive note. I have lost over 30 pounds since the surgery.

Glad that you are doing better. It will get much better and it will take time. Everything is still new. Congrats on your weight lose, its awesome.

Sleeve scheduled for 09/25th!!! This pre-op diet is about to take me out....pray my strength!!!

The 25th is approaching fast. What does your pre-op consist of?

Two protein shakes, 1 protein snack and one sensible meal. Everything has to be less than 1000 calories total. I'm so accustomed to eating A LOT more....lol. I'm keeping my eyes on the prize...this time next week (God willing), I'll be sleeved!!!!

@TheBlissfulNatural: That is the same plan I had for 2 weeks and I lost 10 pounds. so you have that to look forward to. I will get easier though. What I did was make sure I drunk plenty and I do plenty of water in between. Sometimes I would eat my protein and salad for lunch cause I was so hungry, lol. I was also allowed extra veggies if I was not satisfied. I must admit though, I did slip a few times. But still lose those 10 pounds! lol

Hi! My surgery is scheduled for October 6 and pre-op diet is scheduled to start on Sept 23rd. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I just ordered some Unjury products...(I was told they are the best). What does your "pre-op" diet routine consist of? I just want to make sure I'm prepared!

@ how many calories do you eat per day and how many carbs as well

I eat between 800-1000 depending on if I get in a good cardio workout. I focus on getting my protein 80-100 g, and I eat very little complex carbs most days I get maybe 30-40 g.

I just switched up my diet I was consuming to many carbs. How do you get 800-1000 calories and your carbs stay so low I need help on a typical day what do you eat if you don't mind sharing @ mspatrice33

I log everything I eat in MFP. Typical day:

Early morning Protein shake (30g)

Breakfast: 1/2 c Oat meal, scramble egg, 1 turkey sausage.

Snack: Protein Bar or P3 snack

Lunch: grilled chicken salad

Snack: Protein Shake

Dinner: meat loaf, spinach, or steamed veggies.

I limit carbs because too many makes me stall.

@ mspatrice thanks that's what I've been dealing with stalls and I also use MFP and saw that I was consuming too many carbs so now I'm modifying me eating. What kind of protein shakes do you drink?

I drink Premier Protein shakes 11 oz (30 gram) protein, I also use unjury unflavored protein powder to make green smoothies. Genepro protein powder is one I like but my NUT is skeptical about its benefits.
