Yes it is. Its a healthy low fat food and it tastes great. Problem is... you don't need to be eating pita bread with that. Depending on how far out you are, try eating it with some veggies or a few

A slider food is any food that sits well with your sleeved tummy (or passes through the band easily). Not only can you eat it, but you can eat a lot of it in comparison to other foods that struggle to

LOVE hummus unfortunately many moons ago in my past life i learned to eat it with crispy pita chips which i would want to stay away from now. that combo would definitely be a slider for me and i could really go overboard!

these days i would use it with carrots, celery, radishes, etc.

Radishes!!! I never thought of that. I love the garlic one on red bell pepper Yum!

blah blah blah hummus blah blah blah.... yeah hummus is great, I make it myself and can't wait to make it again when the time comes post-op, the reason I needed to reply was the post by boccob31 mentioning using avocado with tuna instead of mayo. I love it!!! what a great idea. I am sure they would be wonderful together. I can't wait to try it. Thanks!!!!

oh, back to hummus, making it yourself you can tweak the caloric content to suit your needs. we use dried chickpeas, homemade tahini, olive oil, and some sort of flavors (such as sundried tomatoes, lemon juice, garlic, roasted red peppers....)

Cheers!!!

Pick some up at whole foods OR make your own to be safe.

Damn!

I'm one week from pureed foods, and for me this thread is porn!

I hope you enjoy it . I love mixing avocado with tuna and now I tried it with salmon so good .

Oh great news…..

But when is this a good option? How long post op?

whenever you are cleared for beans and veggies. i had a different timeline for cooked versus raw veggies.

  • 2 weeks later...

What are you dipping in your hummus in the pureed stage?

  • Author

I did not do any dipping in my soft stage . I only started eating it when I was cleared for the tried stage

I freeze it in half tsp size balls and then eat it frozen as a finger food! Weird I know but started as a way to keep it from going bad in the fridge bc the rest of my family won't eat it.

I also have a recepie for Choc chip "cookie dough" hummus! It adds Peanut Butter and a touch of maple Syrup and a few semi sweet Choc chips and tastes just like Cookie dough! Satisfies my sweet tooth!

Could you post the recipe for the Choc chip "cookie dough" hummus? It sounds good.
