How long to wait before swimming?

How long after surgery did your surgeon suggest you wait before going swimming? I would only go in a chlorinated pool and after my incision sites are at least closed. Did they give you hard and fast rules or timelines?

Thanks!

At least 4 to 6 wks mine said.don't need the added possibility of infection on incisions. There's too much bacteria swirling around in pools an hot tubs...for this important note gives me that much more added caution to listen to my Dr...I can wait a lil while not to cause possible damage to myself..:) the least complications the better..:)

My surgeon said to wait until my incisions wee completely healed. I still have a scab on my big incision so until it's gone I won't get in a pool or hot tub. It has taken a long time to heal so I don't want to mess it up.

My surgeon cleared me 2 weeks out.
