Hello everyone, My name is Jodie and I was banded on September 17, 2004............. wooohooooo its been 13 days officially since my surgery!!!! I am doing great, getting stronger day by day........ My port site still bothers me some, but its improving everyday. I have lost 13 pounds already, YIKES....... so excited. Been walking everyday, and up to 1 1/2 miles. Not a speed demon yet, but I am out there. I have the swedish band and went to Monterrey to have it done with Dr. Rodriguez. He was great and a great bedside manner.......... I am a nurse, so this was remarkable for me! I am a little afraid to go back to work because of all the lifting.......... any other nurses out there? How long did it take you before you get lift safely? I hope everyone is doing great and keep up the good work everyone!!!!!! I would love to receive some emails........ so feel free to contact me. Take care all and hugzzzz

You are getting really close now, please keep us posted on how you do. I bet you are both getting excited. It must be nice to have someone go through it with you at the same time. I wonder how different your bands will be. You will have to compare and let us know.

Good Luck!

Hi Jodie,

I too am an RN, but was just banded the 24th, so I'm concerned about the same things, I'm due to go back to work next friday night, so I'm hoping 2 1/2 wks is long enough. My pt coordinator said I'd be ready in a week... he was SO wrong. I'm doing well, but not THAT well yet. How long did you take off? We'll have to compare notes. Good Luck and congrats on getting banded.

Hello everyone....new to the site...this is awesome...

I have just started the apparent battle with my insurance company...they do cover the surgery, however it seems only under dire straights....I am not sure what the consider dire straigts but if we are in need of this surgery that to me is explanation enough...I am also an RN and would love any advice or help with an appeal letter that you all might put forth..

Thanks in advance and congrats and continued good health for all of you that have been banded.

Hey PamRN: I see that Dr. Ponce did your surgery. Do you know if you got a Lap Band from Inamed or a Swedish Band? You should ask Dr. Ponce. I saw on another message board where he is not putting in the swedish band and giving the impression to his patients that he is putting in the LAP BAND. Huge difference in the bands. And it is hard to get a US doctor to give you fills with the Swedish band. Just thought you should know and ask which band was placed.

Hi Penni,

yeah I read that, and find it very discerning. After much research I decided on and asked for the midband. He gave me the box and numbers and cards with info. So I'm assuming that's what I have. I plan to go back to mexico for fills, so I'm not worried about that. But I am absolutely mortified to hear that story from the patient that got duped. If I'd had that info pre-surgery I might have gone a different direction. I didn't use the Bajanor group site, I used obesity goodbye, so I didn't have Andres for a pt coordinator, I had Marlon. But I did have Dr. jaime Ponce de leon, he does surgery with both groups. I was given the option of the midband, swedish band, and inamed lapband. I chose the midband because it's not rigid so fewer issues with blockage, less slippage, less discomfort. This is information I got from researching the different bands, not from the doc. I hope to hell I got what I asked for!

Hey Pam, Just wanted to say congrats on your band too. I hope you are doing great! I am doing good, but I like you are worried about lifting and such. I took off 2 1/2 weeks myself, I go back to work this coming wednesday. I work in ICU, so lots of ventilated patients to lift and such. I am just going to take it easy and count on my coworkers for their muscles. Thank goodness for teamwork! Money is way toooooooooo tight around this joint now, got to go backkkkk to WORK!!!! Anyway, feel free to email me anytime. Would love to chat and compare notes. Take care and hugz to you

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
