Hello fellow sleevers/future sleevers;

Along with everyone else, I joined this forum so i can educate myself a little more in depth of

the journey ahead.

I am 24 years old.

I have a 6 year old son with whom i gained 100 lbs with during my pregnancy (at age 17).

Before then I was 170lbs.

After pregnancy with the 100 lb weight gain, I let myself go.

Almost 7 years later, I have an official date of getting sleeved.

I have few questions, as I am anxious and cannot wait to start this journey.

Aside from the weight gain from my pregnancy,

the surgeon informed me my eating habits may change.

It is very difficult for me to eat during the day , missing Breakfast and not eating until dinner time where I "PIG OUT"
If i attempt to eat during the day, i will end up with a stomach ache .

Hopefully, the surgery can correct that .

I have a question for the already sleeved patients on the losers bench;

After surgery, when you wake up, is the tube that's down your throat that bad ?

Aunt was sleeved last week and she said it felt as if she was drowning.

Im not a sleever but On a few videos i watched on youtube they recommended alcohol sugar free chloraseptic for after surgery because their throat was in severe pain so I plan on taking a bottle just in case CONGRATS on your journey

Your throat hurts but nothing terrible. Just feels like if you were sick with a sore throat. The tube is out b4 you wake up. Plus with all the pain meds you're on, you feel very little pain. The most painful part for me was sitting up in the bed. Use a pillow to push against your tummy and either have someone help pull you up, slowly or use the bed controls to sit up as far as you can, this way you don't have to use your stomach muscles to pull yourself up out of the bed. :-)

As i have stated,

My aunt was sleeved Tuesday of last week,

my friends were sleeved in March & April

They ALL have told me they woke up with the tubes down their throats.

They were told not to panic and if they were calm (which i mentioned they said it felt as if they were drowning)

I'm assuming that is how things are done here in Miami Lol.

Having the tube down your throat must be a doctor preference. I had my Sleeve at Baylor-Plano here in Texas & my surgeon did not put a tube down my throat. I am on oxygen & use a CPAP at night so my surgeon warned that I might have a breathing tube when I woke up. Lucky me, no tube! I think I would ask my surgeon why the tube is used. Good luck with your surgery. I'm so glad I did this. I had surgery May 12th & I feel better already even tho' I've only lost 28lbs.

Hmmm I have never heard of anyone waking up with a tube dwn their throat... I would ask my dr if that is the procedure before i bought anything.. I have had lapband and the sleeve and have never woke up with a tube dwn my throat.. I was banded in 2005 and woke up with my voice sounding hoarse/scratchy but no pain, when i got sleeved in 2014 my throat was just fine I couldnt tell anything had been dwn my throat...2 of my bff had gastric and they didnt either so its prob a Dr Preference to choose or not to choose!! Goodluck i didnt have a drain nor was i in any pain just a lil sore!! Goodluck dnt worry

I was banded in Plano and sleeved in Dallas!
