My doctor first recommended bariatric surgery about two years ago. I attended my first information session in August 2013. As I am using a military facility (my husband is a retired Marine), I did n

Congrats on your decision! I have no regrets. I am 6 days post op. the nerves will not leave you until it's done. You did your research, planned a course , not just put it in the hands of your medical

I'm 25 and have two kids... I've spent all of my adult life caring for them and going to school. It's finally time that I worry about my health! I've been going through the process since January... My

Ok 17ers... We are almost there! I just finished my preregistration with the nurse. That was my LAST appointment before the big day. I report to the hospital at 8:45 tomorrow. I will shop for liquid stuff today so all of that is on hand for next week. My hubby and daughter are both going to share that day with me so I will not be alone. We all said it seemed so far off. It then you blink at it was here. Well, yes....... But I still wish I had this over with. I am worried like everyone else about the pain, gas, etc that we will likely experience from this surgery, but I know that in most cases time will be the healer and I am up for that and prepared for it. This is thanks to all of you on this site that share your knowledge and experiances. It always helps to know what I am feeling is not abnormal.... In fact I am completely normal! :-). Wow.... What a great feeling that gives me.

I just got back from my pre-op appointment too! They took blood, did an EKG, chest x-ray and urine. Met with my Dr. to ask any questions and sign a bunch of papers. I am so excited and ready for the procedure to be over and start healing! Good luck to everyone...will be thinking about y'all!

Tomorrow is the day!! First surgery at 7:30am!! Scared out of my mind. Not for the pain, nausea or journey. Just for the surgery itself and any complications. I have had a hysterectomy and that was fine. Never worried. Not sure why I'm worried so much. I just wish it was over, I'm awake and I start this journey. No Preop diet was needed for me from my doc but decided to start one on Saturday anyways. Lost 5 pounds already!! I know this is the best thing for me but give me a Xanax when I walk through those hospital doors! Wish me luck!!

Good luck littlelaura!! You will do awesome!! Positive thoughts coming your way!

Good luck tomorrow!!! I am 1 week post op today, not a moment of regret. The gas pain is no fun- walk, walk. just keep sipping- hydrate... Gets easier as time passes. No pain today- only 7 days out!! If your nerves get the best of you tomorrow morning- ask anesthesia to give your something to relax you. Best of luck

Its less than 24 hrs to my surgery! its been a journey that appeared that surgery date was neon days away, but here we are! Surgery takes place at 8:10 am and i will be there by 6:40 am to get prepped. I am excited and a bit nervous. I wish the best for everyone that we have their surgery tomorrow. Positive thoughts to all.

My surgery is tomorrow am June 17. Waited two years since being referred. Had a laband 5 years ago which was a failure. Cant wait to lose weight! Im down 25 since I started on my own.

So excited and also terrified. I'm dealing with chronic back pain, so the thought that I will have to deal with more pain is scaring me.

Well, it's morning of for us June 17ers!!!

So excited for all of us! Positive thoughts going out to all of you!!

Yup, getting packed and ready to go. Last thing I am going to do though is take my weight on the fitbit scale and then take a picture of myself. This is the beginning of my journey on the other side. I want to document it all the way! Good luck everyone.

All done, 12 hrs since surgery. Walked four times today. Walking is a must! This last walk I had so much air and I couldn't burp it out. Got nauseated and about threw up but managed to get five good ones out and didn't throw up! Doing very well! 8 of us here had surgery, mine wasn't the first but I was the first walking. Thank you all of you sleevers for posting your experience so I knew what to do going in!

Hope all is well with the rest of the 17th sleevers!

I was sleeved on the 17th. Doing ok, except for nausea. Hate that! No gas pain, no other real pain as the pain meds are keeping that under control. No problem getting water in, and no problem getting walks in. Just can't get control over the dry heaving. Making me miserable. I did go home last night. Sleeping has been no problem.

Had my surgery on the 17th. I am back home since this afternoon. Feeling tired and trampled on at the surgical sites. The drain felt weird when they pulled it out but no pain. i feel its challenging to keep up with the water, but at least i could keep down the broth and some tea. I chewed on a cube of jello but i afraid that i might swallow it whole so i just chewed on one. Tomorrow i will try pureed the egg or some cottage cheese then a protein shake along my vitamins, CoQ 10, and EFA. I hope i do not gag. Also for those that just had the surgery, positive energy towards you and your family.

I am not sure when I can move forward past the clear liquid food. So far broth, Popsicles, jello, and water is all that I have eaten. I know my hunger is going to come back if I do not eat soon. I will check with the dr tomorrow.

  • 4 weeks later...

How are all the June 17th sleevers? I'm doing great! Down 30 lbs since surgery and 80 total!!

Hope everyone is well!!
