Any Recent Surgeries in Mexico

I see several old posts about Doctors in Mexico and was wondering if any has gone down this year to have their procedure done. I have three doctors I am looking into Dr. Kuri, Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Villarreal and Dr. Elmo Aramburo, or Dr. Almanza. The costs and facilities are almost the same, one doctor is not at the same hospital as the other two. At this point I am just looking for others opinions before deciding which avenue to go. I was going to wait around for insurance but after yesterday I am ready to get the help I truly need.

Haven't seen anyone on here that has used Mexico but in the past there were a few. make sure you find out what size bands they are using. the only comments I heard were that they used the old 4 cc bands that the U.S. will not approve. Best of luck.

I'm just wondering if you got your surgery yet, if so who did you choose and how was your experience??? Best of luck to you!

I went to Dr. Kuri and he is wonderful. I have a 9.75/10 cm band. It has a max fill of 4CC. It was used in the US at the time I had my band placed. I haven't had much trouble finding a fill doctor here. Just some places won't see me, but the good ones will with a surgical report. I went to a quack recently but I needed help. I have found a different doctor and going to see next week to make sure every thing is ok. If I still feel like unsure I'll be making a trip to Mexico to see Dr. Kuri.

Check into Dr. Zavalza . I booked through here bariatric pal :) he's a great surgeon. And I am in the recovery condo now, not in a hotel. :) I have had a great experience. I have to head out tomorrow to go back home :(

I'm scheduled for April 14th in Mexico.

Anyone else getting it done in Mexico?

What is the way your payments were made? I was asked to make a cheque to my coordinator and not the hospital. Is this normal??

I split mine up between financing it and self-pay. I paid $250 to the coordinating agency and the balance then was $4000. I paid half to the surgeon in a cashier's check and the other half the financing company paid to the agency who in turn paid the surgeon.
