Hi I am in day 4 of my pre op diet. I am scheduled feb 10th for my gastric sleeve. I am wondering if there are some filling recipes anyone has found for the pre op. I'm starving!

What I learned 2 months ago prior to surgery is that it is feast or famine with the surgeons for everyone here, either you eat normally, that is no diet, eat moderately, or eat sparingly with much res

I am excited for guys and the weight you've lost. I had the band in 2007. I lost 120lbs but on 3 different occasions had GI bleeding. It was a cycle, I would have Fluid removed and gain back. I did this three times. So I going for the sleeve on 3/18.

My advice is stay of the scales. I had to learn this with my previous weight loss. I would obsess with the scales. I had the family hide the scales. I would only weigh once a week at my moms. That way I didn't get frustrated with the constant up and down.

I'm jealous! : )

You'll get there!! Stay positive!!!

OMG I went to the movies tonight and was so surprised! I was able to eat about one cup of popcorn well chewed of course! When I read your post i laughed

BAND/SLEEVE - Esophageal Cancer

In support to my decision to have mine removed, I had no damage prior to my surgery and since then I’m a stage away from Barrettes esophagus. I just don’t want to be that girl to develop esophageal cancer as a result of being naive pretending the band did not bring me there. I know the band was causing the damage despite originally being told that was not the case, as the doctor states in the slide and his video it’s practically common sense when you think about it. I just hope it isn’t too late for me and I hope other people are made aware of this information so they too can rethink the risks. As it is, everyone who had the surgery is at high risk for developing esophageal cancer.. I believe that is what further studies will show… we are the guinea pigs and further research will reveal the truth but at such a high price.

I have an appointment to meet with GI specialist again once my band is removed, hopefully there hasn’t been much progression since my last visit with him

More patients should know this and be made aware of this prior to having the surgery done. As I said, I would guess eventually these surgeries will no longer be an option.

I'm not saying everyone will get cancer but they should know what's going on... I have a family, kids and my conditioned started after my surgery and quickly worsened. I did not think to look into esophageal cancer prior to getting the surgery done... who the hell would've thought to do that?? However surgeons all over the world are reporting on the statistics and they are not good. I just want to try to warn everyone, awareness can save lives. Some people don't even feel symptoms, everyone who had the band and sleeve surgeries should have an upper GI done. Esophageal cancer is usually detected by the time it's too late but if caught early enough something can be done. Barrett’s esophagus leads to cancer and GERD can lead to Barrettes esophagus. It's basically acid causing damage which just continues to get worse... and both surgeries are causing the conditions to develop and worsen even while being treated for it... i don't know what to do, I wish I could reach out to every single person and make sure they know all the information... it could cost someone their life.. no one wants cancer

Please share this information with as many as you can, they should know all the facts prior to making their decision!

May God be with you. Please repost on a new thread because this information needs to be out there when people are researching so they can make informed decisions. Thank you for sharing. Linda

I just wanted to say thanks to all who have posted. It is so encouraging to read! I am one day one of my pre op diet and want to pull my hair out but I have no energy to do so. My surgery is scheduled for March 27 and I am starting to get nervous. Any advice to get through these next two weeks would be greatly appreciated!

I just want to say good luck. It seems like yesterday my husband and I were counting the minutes, hours and days through presurgery, shakes, surgery, post op, shakes, vitamins, reading and researching, and now it has been 4 months! Just relax and go with it. Paint a room. Re-do your closet. Keep busy. My advice is not to over-buy like I did. Your taste will change. You can buy anything on Amazon and get it in a few days. I have lots of Unjury unflavored protein for shakes and bought the Unjury chicken soup, both of which clump if the water added is too hot. Make sure before you pull out your hair you realize you might have hair loss, so think twice! I have had no hair loss, but still take Biotin every day. We are so happy we had the sleeve, and are eating out regularly, eating appetizers, or sharing an entree. Life is fabulous. So happy for you! Linda

I'm scheduled for the 27th too!!! I started my pre-op diet today and it is NOT fun. I know the first couple days are the worst, but I am so hungry and I haven't found a shake that I like yet. Thank goodness for dinner I get 4 oz lean meat plus veggies. Hugs to you!!!!!

HeatherV...I had my surgery wed and it shows I've gained... I know this is probably from fluids from IV's, meds and swelling. Maybe that's what happened to u instead of a stall?

When I got home from the hospital the whole first week it showed me having gained 7 lbs. but then I lost 17 lbs from my pre surgery weight. And then I had a 3 week stall.
