I rarely use the bathroom anymore?

I've been on soft foods for two days but found even when i was on the full liquids diet i hardly ever use the bathroom. I used to poop 2 - 3 times a day. Now i go once every 3 - 4 days. The same thing happens when i pee. I used to wake up in the morning bursting.

Now it feels like the slightest bit of pressure to the point i've often laid in bed an hour or so reading/enjoying bed before getting up to pee. In the past i couldn't do that because I would wake up and need to relieve myself right away or it would start to hurt.

Before surgery i never drank plain Water because it'd go right through me and i'd have to pee within 20 minutes. Now i drink 17oz of water and wait an hour and don't have to pee. I probably urinate 3 times a day when i used to go 6 - 10 times a day.

I am only drinking water at this point. No more sodas, coffee, juice, or Powerade. Occassionally i drink Crystal Light but i really just like water best.

My pee isn't clear, but it's light yellow. I think that means I'm not dehydrated, or does the infrequent urination mean i am? What's going on?

I am wondering the same thing. I am 10 days post op and feel like I am not going at all. Still on mostly Clear liquids so I guess that is probably most of it but still seems weird. Great ideas on this site!

How much caffeine are you getting? That's not a good idea when you've got dehydrated poo clogging you up. Of course, I quit caffeine altogether and I have bad days, so it's no guarantee of success.

Hmm other causes? Too much Calcium in your diet?

Medications for depression or blood pressure?

Dehydrated (I think you eliminated that - pardon the pun)

Exercise helps too. Bounce on the treadmill for an hour a day and it might loosen things up for ya.

My nut said caffeine was ok because I drink almost 100 ounces water a day on top of couple cups coffee. I do hr and half four to five days a week on the treadmill. I'm really just at a loss. If it's not a fibroid making this so bad, I'm not sure what to do next. I will try decaf coffee and see but this was here before I added caffeine back, but will try about anything at this point!

The smooth moves tea? I found it at Walgreens.

Will definitely look for this! Will make a trip to walgreens :)

Oh and I take no meds but vitamins and calcium.

You didn't address the question of volume. When I was a coffee drinker I was drinking it nonstop, all day. And are you counting it into your Water total?

2 small cups of coffee a day.

And no. Water total is just for my 5 bottles

FYI, I found the smooth moves tea at my walmart in the regular tea section

Switched coffee to decaf, have drank water til I wanna puke, and finally found smooth moves tea! Fixing to drink my first cup. Here goes!!

I know you said you take vitamins, but does yours have iron in them? Iron is notoriously causes constipation. I know I can not take extra iron for this reason, My 6 month blood work was good even without extra supplements.

I'm not sure. Take celebrate multi so guessing it has some. I've always taken a vitamin but I'm sure these have way more in them.

Be careful with Smooth Move tea. That stuff can be harsh on a normal stomach... I'd be nervous about using it the sleeve

Nope, no stress. I'm not sure what's up. I talked to doctor last week, I have an enlarged uterus so possibly fibroid. And if it is, they can cause constipation. Fingers crossed I get answers Friday. Going for testing. I have been having to -tmi warning- manually remove stool for weeks now.

CPrince,

I haven't been sleeved yet, but I've had four Cesarean sections (and I'm a nurse) so I feel like I'm somewhat qualified to comment. First up, you might want to slow down on the laxatives. Here's why, if you're impacted, the laxatives are going to make you miserable because they will promote peristalsis and you will have the force of that hard stool "ehem" trying to exit your rectum. I was miserable. I'd taken all the stuff people recommend and could feel the force of it, but it was too hard to get out. I had to sleep on my side and couldn't bear to even sit. I finally ended up bearing down (because I couldn't take it anymore) and ripping my rectum. Not fun.

So focus on the stool softeners. I know they are not immediate. Then try to position yourself to promote the exit of the stool. Consider buying a Squatty Potty. Google toilet positions for constipation. The toilet is really not you're friend when you're impacted. I'm hoping things get better for you. It took me about a week.
